I'm watching the DVD extras from Score and Honor Thy Father sounds so much better live than on the studio album. Damn Petrucci's distorted effects are so sweet on that specific version on the Score DVD extra.
Silghtly off topic; I'm glad we have that in such nice quality and wish we had it on audio. I really want a superb video hi-def with great audio and video. Porcupine Tree DVD quality kinda great.

I don't really get worked up about James off performances.

Hollow Years. Sounds a little dry on the studio version.

Afterlife, Hollow Years, and The Silent Man. I love the original version of TSM, but the full-band jam thing was really cool on LSFNY.

Most of Train of Thought sounds better live IMHO.

I also prefer live versions of Octavarium to the studio recording.

I think SDOIT is better live.  Both on the Score dvd, and when I saw them do it back when they toured it.

Didn't we just have this thread? :P

Oh well, Hollow Years. And The Test That Stumped Them All I get more enjoyment out of live as well.

Beyond This Life.  Especially the Budokan version.

TSCO on LSFNY is 10x better than the studio version with the choir and all. Petrucci's solo on that recording is fucking tasty.

A great 1-2 with Finally Free after.
