Any news about our beloved friends in DT?
I just received an email from JR telling he and his family are fine.
They had a loss of power last night, but power is back on.
They're expecting some more rain and wind, but should be fine.

Maybe some of the folks here are in contact with other DT members?

Take care, Jeroen

Last time I spoke to JR was yesterday before it hit, and you've got that covered anyway.

JLB will be fine, because he's either in Canada or on a pirate ship or something.

There's some localized flooding, downed trees and power outages on Long Island, but overall it's not too bad, so I'm guessing everyone is fine.

Starting around December we should create a new post to ensure JLB hasn't been affected by the harsh winter, excessive snow, and -40 degree wind chill Canada is known for.

Nyack (upstate, where JR lives) actually got it a lot worse than LI did.  There is significant flooding up that way, along with power outages.

It's not even fucking autumn yet. We'd be lucky to get snow in October with climate change and shit. :P

Don't worry. He'll build himself an igloo.

Apologies for taking this off topic somewhat, but do Americans really get so scared about a bit of wind? I'm Scottish, so obviously have much more experience with bad weather, but we had sustained winds of +65mph this weekend, and life went on as normal. Guessing it's more a case of these stronger winds being rarer over there, so places aren't as equipped to deal with them. Plus the media creating panic, and all of that usual stuff...

It's a water event, not a wind event.  The amounts of water are astronomical.  It's a lot worse then anybody anticipated.
