I'm pretty sure Awake went platinum in Japan, but i'm not sure how many copies have to be sold in order to go platinum there.

I just checked and it's apparently 250,000 for platinum in Japan. That sounds pretty high, although Japan is awesome like that.

I was watching a video from "Awake In Japan" and in particular before "Caught in a web" where James says "We have a new album out called Awake, and thanks to you people it has gone platinum". Maybe it went platinum on a global level? I have no idea.

There's no such thing as a "global" platinum.
