people make it sound here like metal is something strange or awefull .....

Yeah you almost wouldn't know that DT is a Progressive Metal band by the sound of the forums... :P

I enjoy straight up metal bands just as much as I enjoy Prog Rock bands, DT is the perfect compromise for me!

A more consistent album that sounds more like pure Dream Theater, modern or not. For what I've seen (Track lengths, interviews, and whatnot), the album might not have any "fillers", the closest thing to something like that might be "Build Me Up, Break Me Down", which, along with "On The Backs of Angels", will basically round up the musical style that will be presented around the entire album, so it will serve its own purpose. Lost Not Forgotten and Outcry will be similar, but longer and more "epic". Breaking All Illusions will be the highlight of the album. Finally, "Beneath The Surface" is the perfect closing track, it will be positive, inspiring, and it will make you feel satisfied at the end of the album.

I inevitably make my own image of the album before it comes out. This is how it sounds in my dreams now. Oh, and there's a secret message on "Bridges In The Sky", when you play a part of the song backwards, you'll hear unicycle sounds.

JR answered a question regarding what HE thought the new album sounded like. He said it has elements of I&W and SFAM...

My expectations: I'll probably love this album above anything DT has done since SFAM. I will be smiling from the first note. I'll have moments of melancholy for the slower songs. I'll have trouble driving the speed limit when I listen to it in the car. I will find myself smiling when I'm not listening to it, for anticipation of the next time I get to hear it. I will spend hours pouring over the lyrics in appreciation of the sheer genius, catching lines that resonate with me personally. I will find myself pleasantly shocked at the new "bag of tricks" by MM.

Above all, I will be happy that DT has moved on from a very difficult time in their career, and made another album for me to enjoy.
