Blind Faith from the CD is a lot better than the DVD.

We all know he was singing better than CiM on the rest of the tour, although how closely grouped together were the shows they recorded? Maybe the others weren't much better. JLB has rough patches, so all three shows (or however many they filmed) might not have been stellar either. Although I haven't ever listened to the CD to see if the alternate versions of songs were any better.

QuoteAugust 18, 2007 at Molson Amphitheater in Toronto: "Blind Faith", "Surrounded"
August 21, 2007 at Bank of America Pavilion in Boston: "Jordan Rudess Keyboard Solo", "Lines in the Sand", "Scarred"
October 9, 2007 at Ahoy Rotterdam in Netherlands: "Intro/Also Sprach Zarathustra", "Constant Motion", "The Dark Eternal Night", "In the Presence of Enemies"
January 18, 2008 at Bangkok Hall in Bangkok: "Take the Time"
March 4, 2008 at Luna Park in Buenos Aires: "Panic Attack"
May 6, 2008 at Orpheum Theater in Vancouver: "Forsaken", "The Ministry of Lost Souls", "Schmedley Wilcox

Shoots that theory down.

Wow, yeah ok. I was thinking it was less shows than that, and grouped together. That's a big enough spread to leave little excuse.

I think its more of a production issue than JLB singing badly. I went to a couple of CIM shows and he was amazing. BUT sometimes the reverb was a bit up causing a "nasal" effect. Don't know if this was done by Shirley during post-production or if the direct feed to the soundboard was like that initially (soundman's issue).

The simple explanation is usually the right one. Most likely MP was already bored with DT by the time he edited and produced CiM. The quality of the entire thing is poor amd phoned in, I doubt he was really paying much attention to individual performances by that point.

Metropolis Pt. II

I really don't think that MP would do that to make James look bad. That's a bit childish to assume.

It's such a shame that there were so many problems with it- it had a fantastic set of songs.

So the simple explanation is to blame MP? :lol
My theory is that he chose on purpose bad JLB performance so the fans would start to get irritated by his voice and demand a replacement.

Let's hope not, because that's about the silliest thing I've ever heard. (well, except for that weird Viking music video I saw on Youtube the other day, but I'm trying to forget about that)

Actually... it makes sense now. He picked up the bad JLB performances for Chaos In Motion. MP also arranged WDADRU for the fans to see that James cannot sing exactly like Dominici. I also believe that MP wanted to come back to Dream Theater when he realized that they might make a good progressive album against his wishes, he then wanted to return to ruin everything to make Adrenaline Mob look better than Dream Theater.

I'm actually picking up some interesting evidence that points to a plan he is making to kidnap JLB!

Jarlaxle

Or MP just didn't listen to every track in full and has no conspiracy against JLB.

I hate bein negative but if he was desperate which we found out he was this isnt that far fetched. Its actually what i originally thought as well (but i wasnt gonna say anything). Based on MP how the hell could you say he didnt listen to the tracks in full?

Its possible they were all just bad by labrie so it was out of Mikes hands. I love Labrie guys but it could be the case.

But from my own experience on this tour (2 shows) and others on this board as well, James sounded amazing.
