Seriously, the Genie pulls out all the stops! So I guess the going nick-name is "Genie" now? I guess I need to change/update my DT-icon in my signature to include a Genie...
So we have a Wizard, Genie, Pirate, God and Myung. It's beginning to seem like the cast to a really epic Disney film! :metal
Wizard, Genie, Pirate, Bear and Ninja, as far as I know.  ;D

This is awesome. Someone really needs to have some photoshop fun with this concept! :D

Adami

There's already a photoshop of it somewhere.

wasn't 100% certain that MM was the right guy to begin with, thought minneman may have been better. but to be honest, after seeing all the videos of him with them live, and the way he gives so much respect to MP (despite recent events on his fb page..) really shows that he is the PERFECT guy for DT. very happy for him!

I was very disappointed when it cut off.

Thanks for the link!  :tup

Surely you would position the snare so the level is facing you ( i.e between the knees ) - then it would not be too much hassle to flick it on.

Especially if the snare stand is heavy enough and won't wobble - then you could probably do it in one motion without much effort ?  ???

I think Portnoy too had a problem with it, it's a "how fast can you do it" issue if I remember correctly.

actuallly, if MP had a problem with it, it was a different problem. MP used a custom snare strainer that was foot controlled instead of a lever. if you watch some of his instructional vids (post LDT), you can see the pedal to the left of his snare "stand" leg when they show his feet.

also the stainers on the melody masters are very smooth and can easily be nudged into place with a leg/foot.

I have a melody master snare, and I have NEVER heard of Portnoy controlling them via pedal before.

He was the perfect voice
And suddenly it feels like 1992 all over again.

Genie is awesome!

Is it just me, or is it still kinda weird watching all of these live videos with the Genie playing in DT?  I love him and he is an absolute perfect fit...so I don't know.  Just seems weird still.  I'm guess I'm not totally used to it yet.

He talks about it on one of the dvds. He talks about how his has a pedal but it would have been too expensive for the average musician.

I was fine with it from the get-go. After seeing what has gone back and forth between camps - I am so glad the band are happier now and have a drummer that

deserves to be there ( not that MP didn't deserve it ) My respect for MP has gradually slipped further and further with each toys-out-of-pram action.

Mangini looks happier than a pig in dirt and the band seem re-energised. So yeah. It was time for a shake-up and this is the result : classic DT sound and

fantastic live performances all round.  :coolio

at 1:48 he is definetely pulling the lever, but maybe that's just on this video, maybe he's using a pedal otherwise.
