It could probably be polished up a bit if someone else wants to take a stab at it.

I liked the "white album" version better. This one really looks too much like

Outstanding!! Thanks for doing that. I think it looks great. The b/w is too obvious and that's a nice shade of blue.

Quote from: snapple on June 22, 2011, 09:31:22 AMHoping to hear a single before then. Would concert bootlegs be considered "leaks"?

No.  As in the past, if the band comes out and says that they feel strongly that certain performances not be shared, I will take that into consideration.  But generally speaking, if someone posts something from a show, that's fine.

So the first we hear one of the new songs might be live?  That's an interesting change.

Yes, but keep in mind that the September release date is 3 months later than what they had for BCSL.  It's too early for a single.

That's really cool man.  Nice job.

Sorry, I didn't see this one until now.  Thank you.  Also a cool cover.

Not that it would ever happen but I'd love to see them drop the font.

Thanks. I have to say, I like both of them more than I thought I would. Something more simple like these would work really well as a special edition cover or something.

So the actual artwork is going to be revealed soon?  When can we expect more details, and maybe a single?

Nothing has been announced. Everything being discussed is just speculation.

robwebster

Yeah - by "soon," we really mean "in the next two months." It's the next phase, though, and it usually happens a couple of months before the album's release, so it's approaching due.

Incidentally, weird little story, but I never got to tell it at the time, and now its so far into the past that it's no longer an issue - I got to see the art and the title of the last album a couple of weeks in advance. You know when you make a sort of "serendipitous" discovery... inasmuch as, you convince yourself that you're not looking to do X thing, so it's not your fault if it happens, but you go in knowing there's a definite chance?

I dug around through Hugh Syme's portfolios in advance of the last album, telling myself that I was just having a look at his art to get an idea of the kinda stuff he might be doing. Might've stumbled across a big moon-encrusted piece titled "DREAM THEATER - Black Clouds & Silver Linings" a couple of weeks before they'd announced even the title.

Reported it to Weymolith off of MP.com like a good little fan, 'cause frankly I didn't want to cause Mike Portnoy another headache. He's big on reveals, and I surely wouldn't be the last enterprising little sneak to stumble across it. 'Course, I've got a hunch they're possibly not using Hugh Syme again 'cause that seemed to be Mike Portnoy's little contact - but yeah, just quite exciting to think that there's a chance that, somewhere, the artwork to ADToE is kicking about, all pristine and new.

This may be a bit offtopic, but I was reading the forum on page 19 I think and I learned that Petrucci has a solo album of which I have never heard before. And thats probably because I can't find it from the dreamtheater.net -> side projects thingy! I mean thats where I discovered LTE and Transatlantic for the first time.... The same thing applies to Notes on a dream and when the keyboard breaks....

How can this be?

With a scepter and a... cmon cut it out :D

Any other side projects I should know about? I was just thinking that what if there is a Myung solo album Im not aware of or something :P... Bassnotes on a dream? It could show you how the bass notes of some DT songs would sound if you could actually hear them.. :D

I like how Jordan's right eye is 53% larger and 2 inches higher than it should.

I feel like they're judging us.
Not us.  Just you.
I'd love it if everyone else was seeing a picture of them beaming broadly after a successful day of rehearsing, while I've got them leering out at me through my laptop like I've just killed their bassist.

(Disclaimer: I really wouldn't.)

From Mike Mangini:

It took a week to organize and set up the equipment for the upcoming tour. I've not seen that much equipment in a building for one band ever! We tried the songs a bit and playing them with the guys rather than the CD's was so much fun I can't explain it :):)

I can't wait for the first bootlegs of the European tour...Mangini really seems like he will be on fire for this...

With the last album, when I believe they played AROP before the release, was the footage/audio quality of them playing it decent?

They played AROP before the album's release, but the single was released as a free download before the tour started. So it never really factored into it.

Just search YouTube for any bootlegs of recordings, though. With any recording of a live gig, some are brilliant, some are rubbish. Pot luck. FWIW, though, DT fans are pretty ardent bootleggers. Very thorough. I'm sure a fairly-good one would turn up sooner or later.

DarkLord_Lalinc

Bootlegs will appear. Probably more than ever before, considering there are no actual bootlegs that feature DT with Mike Mangini on drums. These are not just live shows being taped, it's something very fresh and new.

Speaking about the music in the new album...
When they released the drummer audition, people were saying, ''this could be potential riffs from the new album'', and I was thinking ''Oh, c'mon... they haven't even entered the studio (at the time of the recording)''
But, I don't know, this little riff caught my attention:

Got to minutes 08:30

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=677UAyq4Jig&feature=related
Go to minute 2:10

The first video is from the auditions (Recorded last year), and the second one is from Tcelectronics... early january...

Maybe...  :metal

Agreed, nice find there.

That's some tasty riffage.
Indeed, it is. I'm really hoping that riff is somewhere on the new album.
