This is a jawdropper. Fucking amazing. Thanks a heap!

STEVETHEATER

Great job Peter! For what it's worth... if it wasn't for Mike Mangini they should have picked you.
Thanks for the video.

Apart from the spectacular execution, thisis probably the most amazing kick drum tone I've ever heard.

Peter,

You made it look like I could do it! Bravo!  :corn  :tup

You had some cool parts going on there, sounds really amazing. Don't like really like ANTR, but you made it more interesting!

tgstk2

Thanks so much Peter! Hopefully we'll hear more of your drumming on the next James LaBrie solo album or something!

EDIT: Wow, the bass drums sound amazing during A Nightmare to Remember.

Peter,I am at a loss for words. I dont think my mouth closed the whole time I watched the video.  :omg: truly epic and you have a new fan for sure. Thanks again for giving us at DTF access into your life and the process you endured during the auditions. truly awe inspiring  :metal :hefdaddy   jc

Bone_Daddy

To Note: I believe Peter is the only drummer to make Myung smile during the audition process (based on what we saw on the video).

Global Laziness

Isn't that funny, I noticed for the first time watching the video PW posted, too.

This.

And... Sjukt bra! Grymt imponerad

Damn Peter, I don't think I ever really thought about how damn near impossible it must be to adequately learn and play songs of this mammoth length and scope and then go without a wink of nervousness, rip through them with the band themselves. This video has helped illustrate how incredibly athletic and tight you yourself and the other drummers had to be. Cheers!

You are great Peter!!!!

Completely off topic, is there a chance you do another Electrocution 250 album?

Dublagent66

Had to bump, this is good stuff.  Thanks Peter.   :tup

There is a thread about them.  Any info you or anyone else can provide would be terrific.

In fact, Peter, it would be great if you could comment in that thread, especially on the questions I asked.

Hey Peter, out of curiosity, are your students aware of your status as a drummer?

I hope they don't already know, and then one of them discovers it and he has to teach the kid drums to keep him quiet like some sort of badass drumming super hero.

I feel like they already know.

Wildoer

I'm sorry not replying earlier to all of your amazing and loving comments!!! I simply have a hard time making everything happen during the 24 hours a day. We've (Darkane) been working hard on our studio. I have uploaded pictures of that on my Facebook www.facebook.com/peter.wildoer check them out.

I've seen some clips on YouTube from some DT shows this summer and I have to say that I've never heard Mangini this good. Just jaw dropping execution!!! Congrats to the whole DT camp for bringing such a fantastic performance over all.  :metal

Now on to some answers in this thread:

Also, Tama Bubinga? Are they nice? I've been dying to play some.

Yes it's Tama Bubinga and they are the best drums I've ever played! I love the hyperdrive depth. Go to www.peterwildoer.com and click Gear for full drum setup.

TDoE doesn't sound like the album mix. Did you get different files from the album? It actually sounds like midi a little.

I found the drumless version somewhere on the internet. Saw that someone covered it on YouTube and I gave it a shot to find it, which I did. The bass solo is actually replaced by the Mario song for some reason in that version but I cut that out and used the original sound for that part.

On a note for the tracks I use is that they are most likely not played to a click track. At least to me it sounds as the tempos goes up and down especially coming in and out of some parts. Listen to the end of ANTR, I had a very hard time to adapt to that tempo change and as you can hear I drift away from the music. No clue if DT played to a click track in the studio but change tempo from now and then?

Every time I see someone cover TDOE I appreciate the greatness of MP for writing it in the first place.

Absolutely agree! It's one thing to cover and learn stuff but a very different and way harder task to write great drum parts!!!

We will start recording the new Darkane album in October after the European tour. Can't wait to get started! Check www.darkane.com and click Events for tour dates. Hope to see some of you there!!! A great idea to make a Lego video!

That's right, I teach math but also drums. I work at a music high school. It's 50/50 math and drums for me. i do hope one day though to be able to make a living out of music 100%!!!

Todd (guitar), Lalle (keys) and I actually talked about this some weeks ago. There is a good chance this will happen but since all of us are busy it won't happen until next year the earliest. It would be awesome to do another Electrocution 250 album!

I will do my best to answer questions in that thread. Again, just need to find the time.

Hey Peter, out of curiosity, are your students aware of your status as a drummer?

Some of them are but not all. Hell, even I'm not aware of my status! I can tell you though that all the students that love DT bugged me before it was official about the auditions. When it was out, some of them almost turned shy  and became a bit "star struck" even, ha ha ha!!!

Once again, thanks to all of you for your warm and amazing comments!!!   :heart

Stay metal!
Peter

Once again, Peter, thanks for your time spent giving us these great insights!  :)

Looking forward to seeing your take on the growling section of ANTR  :metal
