DT didn't come to Greece for the BC&SL tour, so i am very excited to see them live after 4 years...

Guess which band is opening for DT....
Fates Warning!!!!! :metal :metal :metal
This is going to be an epic concert :yarr

nikostheater

Epic indeed!
It's going to be so awesome..I can't wait!

Have fun!

I'm seeing them in two days in Hungary, it's gonna rock.  :metal

The Silent Cody

Wow, Fates Warning opens? Shit, why I'm not there...  :-[

The concert was FANTASTIC!
James rocks,JM was great as always and he moved a lot,MM smiled all the time and he played incredible,Rudess was great,Petrucci the beast on the guitar..
They played Learning to live  at the encore and james nailed it.
They were awesome,fantastic!

I have to say that i was not impressed my Mike Mangini..He was great at stuff like Peruvian Skies but i found out that he really had a lack of groove at heavier parts and songs like Endless Sacrifice,The great debate (i missed Portnoy SO MUCH there), Forsaken etc..He didnt move me that much..The other guys and the sound in general were fantastic!

nikatapi

Just got back from the concert, it was really amazing!
Everyone in the band seemed so energetic and excited, and they nailed their parts.
At the end i shouted at Mangini "I love you" and he said "I love you too" and he was ready to cry, while everyone was shouting his name.
On of the best concerts in my life.

This is the first comment of this nature that I've read here. Hey, MP was a beast, especially live. It has taken some adjusting for me not hearing MP back there either, as I'm also used to hearing the songs a certain way, and the drums being done a certain way. So yes it is different, but as the shows go on, you can just feel MM getting more comfortable, and I think it shows in the entire band's performance.
It will be interesting to hear the new material live, instead of just hearing the familiar MP era material.

souk

Hey, I missed him too... But you have to admit, MM is a great drummer and is really trying a lot to be part of this DT family...
He was so fast during that solo!!!!!!!!!!

Stonestef

Great concert!I traveled by ship a distance of 340km (211 miles for you Americans) to get to Athens but it was worth it!MM's drum solo was great!I had seen his solo from the other cities and I knew most of it but it is a whole new experience when you are there, with the low frequencies from the bass drum hitting you in the chest!

orphaeusest

any news about the encore? (the rest of the setlist is just the same, if you already know)

MM is a great drummer indeed!!however i think that he is NOT a metal drummer..i hope that his drumming attitude will change over time..

I have been sending mails all the evening to multiple guys on youtube. I hope to get as many videos from Athens 02/08/11 as I can. Then, I'll hand them to a guy who has some more than decent skills, and he'll hopefully come up with a multicam mix of the show.

This, but only if those people will aknowledge my kind request of sharing/trading the masters  :'(
