Everyone please share your own favorite DT moment!

Here is mine:  Go to 2:45...  Budokan DVD.  JP in a music store in Japan, fiddling on one of the store's guitars.  Guy standing nearby hears him playing and asks, "Is that Dream Theater?" (he obviously has no idea who he's talking to).  JP quietly laughs and replies, "Yes...  It is."

Obfuscation

These are just 2 of the many favorite moments that I have.
Instrumedley in the Live at Budokan DVD
Octavarium in the Score DVD (especially in the Trapped Inside This Octavarium part, full of win)

Jaffa

"Seasons change, and so can I!"

I've listened to ACOS a lot of times, and that line never fails to give me chills, so I think I have to call it my favorite.

The Silent Cody

Well hard to say... but one of them is definitly battle between Rudess and Portnoy during Beyond This Life from Budokan... epic improvisation ;)

"As a child, I thought I could
live without pain without sorrow
As a man I've found it's all caught up with me
I'm asleep yet I'm so afraid

Somewhere like a scene from a memory
There's a picture worth a thousand words
Eluding stares from faces before me
It hides away and will never be heard of again
Deceit is the second without end

The city's cold blood teaches us to survive
Just keep my heart in your eyes and we'll stay alive
The third arrives..."

I would ask that you think more about what you post and how you post it before posting something like this again.  This is a public forum, so anyone, including Mike and/or Derek, can read what is written.  It isn't remotely constructive to say that either of their replacements are "significant improvements."  You can say you prefer one over the other, and can discuss the reasons why, but, again, posting the way you did isn't contructive and comes across in a way that we don't want this forum to reflect.  If you are unsure whether you should post something, I recommend you check the forum rules and then ask if you still need further clarification.

Although I'm not that big a fan of ACOS, I must say that that part is one of my favorite DT moments as well, the whole Another world part is gold!

This by faaaar  :tup also The Dance Of Eternity  ;) and... some parts of Sacrified Sons, that song really grow for me in last few days

Sketchy

Myung buying himself an epic black kimono (Or I assume it was one of those)... He should wear that onstage, it would look badass >_>

Also: "sorry, I got distracted by that note".

IdoSC

I know it's pathetic, but I'm gonna say the F# (the whole scale). I'm a huge, huge fan of James's voice and that moments is just...eargasmic.

I feel like this is such a lame ass favorite moment. Especially since both Derek and Mike Portnoy were incredible assets to the band. Also thats like saying my favorite part about sex is when I wash my sheets. Sure it's somehow connected and most likely a good thing, but what about the sex?Or in this case any of the other choices that could be considered a favorite moment.

Favorite Live Moment = When they transition from the end of LTL into the last part of ACOS on the medley in 5 Years In A Livetime.

Favorite Recorded Moment = 2nd Pre-Chorus to Innocence Faded

Favorite Extra = In the commentary for I&W Live in Japan when the all have a good laugh at Labrie twirling himself across the stage.
