It's rainin, rainin on the streets of NYC
It's rainin, rainin, raining deep in heaven
Raining deep in heaven
I may have wasted all those years
but there not worth their time in tears
I may have spent too long in darkness
in the warmth of my fears

I think I use that for everything nowadays. I have it written on a mug, all over the back of a note back, etc. <3

SDV is amazing. I've been obsessed with it lately.

The first transition from the quiet part to the intense part in Voices. Made me a rabid fan for life.

FlyingBIZKIT

The Razor's Edge, Lines In The Sand, and the Goodnight Kiss solos from JP. I personally like his slower solos.

Chrissalix

Funk section in Take The Time
Learning to Live in general, but mainly for the f#5 and everything after it.
Intro to 6:00

The F#5 and solo plus outro in LTL
Another World
various parts of Scarred
"There's no one to take my pain..." in Space-Dye Vest
James' vocals on The Killing Hand @ Marquee
ITNOG outro
The Glass Prison when the guitars and drums kick in

One of my favourite parts is one which I hadn't even noticed until I started listening to the keyboard stems for BC&SL. In JP's beautiful quiet solo JR plays some plink plink plonk noises (sort of piano-ey) which sound like the dripping of water in a dungeon to me. Class. Then they buried it in the mix along with a shitload of other great stuff.

Dekost

I like every monumental moment DT history.

(nothing)

Thank God it's audible during the live performances of the song.

JP's 15 notes per second(each one picked...no hammer-ons, pull-offs, or any other legato whatsoever according to the Awake tab book) from 5:08-5:21 in Erotomania.

Runnerup: The "every guy gets a solo" sequence in Ytse Jam. Why they didn't give Charlie a vocal solo is beyond me

Just created an account...  It's tough to give Dream Theater your time when you want to give your time to Frank Zappa, Kraftwerk, Devo, Magma, The Residents, Tom Waits, and MANY other bands...  But I've been listening to them over the last few days.  Just throwing in their albums in alphabetical order (Cos that's how they're listed on my computer, though I should have done it in order they were released probably! Woops).

Definitely a fan of them, mainly their earlier stuff...  When Octavarium came out I caught them live on April 1st 2006 and the Score show was great.  The DVD/CD is great, a solid night all together.  Systematic Chaos came out and I wasn't a fan of that one...  Black Clouds came out, wasn't a fan of that one either, but loved the covers...  Just started listening to DT again though like I mentioned...  Sorry for the novel, I'll now share some of my favorites:

-"A suited man smiled, said it's just a matter of time!"
-As another poster mentioned, the instrumental passage of Metropolis is excellent!  Some of my favorite, and is up there with some of my favorite songs of all time still...
-"All dogs need a leash..."  and "I wanna talk about life long mistakes you can tell your stepfather I said so!"
-The dude who does the "SWEPT AWAY WITH THE TIDE!" vocals...
-New Millennium's vocal deliveries from LaBrie.
-Home/Dance of Eternity...  The Spirit Carries On...  SFAM may be my favorite DT album...  Really solid!
-Test that Stumped Them All... Solitary Shell...
-Stream/In The Name Of God
-Full Circle all the way to the TRAPPED INSIDE THIS OCTAVARIUM! part is completely epic for me...  I think my favorite DT epic has to be that tune...  Doesn't quite hang with Supper's Ready but really solid epic non the less!

Oh my god, LOL! I am the QUEEN of doing that. I'll be writing and I'll look through the pages I did and I skipped like 5 words.

The outro of Learning To Live is favorite musical moment ever

JustinVK

"drifting with the current, the stream of life goes on, he seems alone and silent" part of Lifting shadows. Last minute of innocence faded. 36-55 of only a matter of time.
The solo of best of times. Outro of the count of Tuscany.

-The dude who does the "SWEPT AWAY WITH THE TIDE!" vocals...

That's Doug Pinnick From King's X.

Oh and Scenes From A Memory has to be my favorite DT moment, everything about that album is just perfect, it's both my favorite moment and my favorite album of all time.

Also Metropolis Pt. 1, My favorite song.

and (lol) last but not least Space-Dye Vest, this is just one off my favorite song's and it's just wonderful period, The Emotion that Kevin wrote and James conveyed is mind baffling, If you get a chance listen to Kev's vocal demo with vocals by Kev. This song's defiantly  gotten me through some tough times.

Playing a lion being led to a cage
I turn from surreal to seclusion
From love to disdain
From belief to delusion
From a thief to a beggar
From a god to God save me

Everyone please share your own favorite DT moment!

Here is mine:  Go to 2:45...  Budokan DVD.  JP in a music store in Japan, fiddling on one of the store's guitars.  Guy standing nearby hears him playing and asks, "Is that Dream Theater?" (he obviously has no idea who he's talking to).  JP quietly laughs and replies, "Yes...  It is."

and this is fantastic!
