I noticed that some music in Donkey Kong 64 sounds similar to a part in Finally Free. Check it out!

Here's a link to the song in Donkey Kong 64

Thoughts?

Global Laziness

Maybe loosely in the sense that they both have ominous synth...

Hal Incandenza

For the record: Donkey Kong 64 was released in November 1999, while SFaM was released in September of 1999 and recorded earlier that year.

Ultimetalhead

When I saw this thread title, I thought FOR SURE it was Aniland.

Serves me right for assuming.

pmahoney1337

Note for note they aren't very similar, but they definitely have the same feel imo.

TheOutlawXanadu

That part always did remind me of Finally Free for sure!

DarkLord_Lalinc

That was one awesome game.

The 3 Donkey Kong Country games for SNES are among the best games I've ever played.

Before clicking the link, I'm guessing Gloomy Galleon and the instrumental section before "friday evening...."

The third one was alright, but the first two were amazing. 64 was a pretty great game also.

The similar vibe is definitely there. And SDOIT always sounds like a videogame to me, does anybody remember which one?

I'm thinking to get DK for wii, is it really good?

Most parts of the Overture have always reminded me of Zelda, specifically Ocarina of Time.

I've got it. It isn't as good as the original SNES trilogy (but no one would expect it to anyway I think)...however, it was a LOT better than I was expecting it to be. It is definitely worth getting IMO, if you liked the SNES games.

A winner is you.

Cool find, OP.  I'm gonna go play DK64 now.

2:54 in Wither reminds me of Zelda's Lullaby.

Came here to post that.

Man that's the second time that's happened with this specific topic. Everytime I want to bring it up, someone beats me to it. :lol

tgstk2

i dont hear it..... i thought it would be like a mix up kinda vid....

like nirvana vs rick astley kinda thing...

CrimsonSunrise

Cool find!  When I first heard the best of times I thought the melody sounded just like the ending music in the 70's movie "Oh God" when george burns is walking into the sunset across the park.

pmahoney1337

Damn, I guess I failed pretty hard with my thread title. Sorry for all the disappointment.

Chino

I remember I bought that game but not the expansion bay thing. I put the game in and then

SDFprowler

When I bought the game (aka received it for Christmas when I was 13) it came with the expansion pack for the 64.  Perfect Dark was another game I got that ended up utilizing it.

Fuck. Now I want to do a ROM hack of Final Fantasy I and replace all the music with 8-bit DT music.

Mebert78

Ramdom thought...

DT and Donkey Kong have something in common besides this song: barrels.  In Donkey Kong, Mario jumps over barrels.  In "The Count of Tuscany," soldiers hide in barrels. :omg:  :|
