Started listen to Dream Theater around may 2009.

2009:
May: Images And Words
Octavarium
June: Train of Thought
July: Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Aug: Systematic Chaos
Sep: Awake
Okt: Scenes From a Memory

2010:
Okt: Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

2011:
Jan: Falling Into Infinity

Global Laziness

What took you so long for Six Degrees and Falling into Infinity?

ubit

I'm not positive of the exact months and years, but it took me a long time to listen to WDADU, I&W, Awake, SFAM, FII, and 6DOIT.

I was initially all metal, and only enjoyed 2005 - 2009 DT.  Maybe a year or so later I slowly found songs on the other albums I liked.

Still working on WDADU.... outside of the ytse jam...  :tdwn

I know most people won't agree, but next time your in the car, crank up The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun. When the drums kick in its fucking awesome. Try that and see what you think.

I will, thanks for the recommendation!  :-)

I have often heard that quoted as the worst song on the album, but if it has awesome drums, I'm in!

Yeah...it is. And this coming from a guy who loves WDaDU (apart from that song).

ubit

Well Mr. Laziness, here is my hope/theory...

If you love the album, maybe you enjoy something about music that I do not.  Or vice versa.  So maybe if you hate that song, it'll be one of the few I like.  We'll see!   ;D

Infinite Cactus

Ha, its like your trying to prevent him from jumping off a bridge or something. "DON'T DO IT! IT WONT END WELL! " I love WDADU also (top 3). And I think its a pretty cool song.

Basically like this:

1.  I&W - 1992
I heard parts of Awake, ACOS, and FII, but didn't own any of them and didn't sit down and listen to entire albums until...
2.  SFAM - 2000
3.  LSFNY - 2001
4.  Awake and FII - Bought them at the same time
5.  ACOS - I believe I picked this up before Six Degrees came out, but it may possibly have been just after.

I got Six Degrees when it came out, and did the same with all subsequent releases, whether studio or live.  I believe I picked up WDADU either during the Six Degrees or TOT timeframe, but I don't specifically remember.  So, to sum up, the only albums I did not buy at or close to release date were WDADU, Awake, ACOS, and FII.

Ryzee

Discovered DT in '93:

Images & Words
Live at the Marquee
Awake (on release)
When Dream & Day Unite
Change of Seasons EP (on release)

Fell out of touch w/ the band until around '99-'00 when I stumbled across Scenes in a record store...

Scenes
Falling Into Infinity
Six Degrees through Black Clouds, all on release in the order they were released.

Zook

I only recall:

Surrounded (song duh)
Live In Budokan
Images And Words
Scenes From A Memory

I downloaded them all at once (I own everything but Chaos In Motion so shhhetup) so I don't know what order besides those.

jammindude

Images and Words (within weeks after first release)
When Dream and Day Unite

All others have been on day of release without fail.

And IMHO, Octavarium is their masterpiece.   Absolutely brilliant album.

Apricot

Images and Words
A Change of Seasons (EP I know...)
SFAM
FII

First one was Scenes and after that I don't have a clue. How the hell do you guys remember the exact order?
