So I thought I would put my noggin to the grind and come up with some titles that felt right for DT's next album.  I tried to go with some mysterious sounding titles that were also playful and evocative.  They also represent the idea of fate and starting over, and the idea of turning lemons into lemonade.

Here is what I came up with

A Detour Called Life
The Unseen Hand
In Space No One can Hear you dream
Stop, Drop, and LOL
Fight the Dragon
Death in the Family
Forget the Future
Raison d' etre
Sounds from An Unknown Future
The Morning is Now

I think any of these would work great for DT 11

i would be totally cool with them calling it eleven.

seems mysterious and cool

If the title is not based off of the Thundersword universe, I will probably be pretty disappointed with it.

A self-titled album would be cool, although I doubt that it will happen.

I would happy with those. "Raison d'etre" sounds very stylish, now I'm stuck with the image of James announcing that title on stage with his cheesiest french inflection  :lol

This one's from our latest fucking disc, Raison d' fucking etre!

Somewhere in the back of my mind still lingers a hope that the album will be called "Rawwwwwwwwk".

But Eleven would be pretty cool, as long as it's not Virtual Eleven. *zing*

Eleven sounds good actually. Would be a good album title

Aniland

I really like A Detour Called Life and The Morning is Now.

My hopes for the new album title is that it has nothing to do with 'carrying on' or anything Portnoy-related. I don't expect it to be, but still, I think we're going to stop seeing all of that now that the gap has been thoroughly filled.

My vote still goes to Syllabiblical.  :lol

This one goes to Eleven.

I don't think I like Eleven. It wouldn't detract or anything, but... I unno. I like their thought-provoking titles. If they're going to do a one-worder, have it be something awesome.

as long as it isnt something cheesy like 'the frozen tears of winter' im fine with it

Was about to say, "Isn't that a Rhapsody title?" Turns out that was 'The Frozen Tears of Angel'.  :lol

The Indigo Album... somehow, I like that.

It'd be interesting if they released a self-titled album in the Mangini era.  Makes the point pretty hard that this is still DT.

I have this odd feeling that the next record may be self-titled. I also think that, if not, the last album they ever do will be self-titled.

Or it might have something to do with "Majesty". You know, going full circle and all that jazz.

MasterShakezula

If it's released on 11/11, it could be Armistice, as the name would have the double meaning of representing the recent resolution of conflict between DT and MP, as well as the date of the armistice that ended WW1.

Damn that's a great idea! if there's ever a perfect timing for a DT self titled album it's now.

rumborak

Well, they could call it "Xeno's Inference" or something, and that way it would spell "XI", i.e. 11.

Again with those nuggets? The only one being fond of those things was MP; the other members of DT apparently didn't care for it all that much, so I doubt that a release date like 11/11 will be brought up to the table.
Also, I think they've moved on from the situation with MP far enough to not dedicate more than lyrics to a song or part of one to it.

rumborak

Yeah, I have to agree, that nugget stuff got really old at the end.

I'm sick of nuggets and nuggets fans, go solve a Sudoku.

11/11/11? For fuck's sake, I don't want to wait until November for a Dream Theater album. I suspect an August or September release, but no later than that.

Really? I just don't see them playing any concerts this year before the new album is released, but who knows.

The first concerts are set for the beginning of July; I really doubt that the album will be released by then, keeping in mind that post-production and promotion (the latter of which has been getting overlong over the past few years) will take at least two or three months.

Besides, the same thing happened for BCASL. A few warm-up shows with AROP being played, and the album being released during the first leg.

Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just me hoping since I'm seeing them in July.
