My only beef about Episode 3...

... is that it would have been great to see MM playing some other DT material (not new stuff) with the guys. However... I'm very excited for what the future brings. I got into DT when Pull Me Under was their only single... and so I'm hoping they take a step away from some of their heavier stuff (not that I don't like it, I just prefer albums like IAW and SFAM).

Dream_Theater01

I'm a big fan of their heavier stuff, but I also like their more progressive side.  Either direction is fine by me.

Nighthawkwill7

I believe the new album will still have a heavy side to it but with more progressive elements similar to I&W or SFAM thrown into the mix as well.

I have a feeling we won't be dissapointed  :tup

DarkLord_Lalinc

Just read that they're planning to release the DVD with the whole documentary and lots of extra stuff.  :tup

WTF?!?
Why do people use "heavy" and "progressive" as contradicting terms?!
I want an album which is heavy as shit and progressive as fuck.

No, that's okay.  I'm not mad--just showing off how awesome this site is.

I for the most part enjoyed Episode 3, but that scream Vader lets out after he learns the fate of Padme is ... errr ... wrong Ep. 3 ...

^^^ I was going to say "Jar Jar Binks got unnecessary screen time."

This! I'd also like some parts that are cheesey as hell like Innocence Faded intro.

I would have liked to hear them converse about Minnemann and Mangini, as opposed to "yeah we talked about it, and we eventually came to a decision". I mean, in the eyes of the DT members, what gave Mangini the edge over Minnemann? I think the video suggested that Mangini was more hard hitting than the other drummers, but it would have been great to know in detail the way that they actually came to the decision.

Jamesman42

^Maybe they couldn't explain why they went with Mangini over Minnemann. Like, literally could not put it into words.

They could.  Part of it was time constraints.  I think part of it too was not wanting to go into depth about why they didn't prefer Minnemann.  It's a bad thing to put out there about a drummer you genuinely like and want to work with again.

Jamesman42

That's true. And it's great that JR and Marco will be working together, so it's better, IMO, that Marco didn't get it, so we get good stuff from Mangini and Marco.

...but not harder then Lang ;)

It seems like the least they could do, after having everybody wait 6 months for a documentary, is to include a video of them all playing together.  Old stuff, new stuff, doesn't matter.  After we wait all this time and sit through 60 minutes of reality-TV melodrama, it'd be nice to be rewarded with something.  I think it's quite anti-climactic to wait this long for essentially just an announcement, when it could be another 6 months before we actually hear anything of the result.

He didn't.  He said "heaviER" and "MORE progressive."  Meaning the two extreme ends of the spectrum.  Calm down, have some dip.
