The negative vocal minorities always seem to get the attention, so here's some more.

Thankfully, there seem to be very few people of the attitude "fuck this reality shit and just tell us already".  They seem to think that there should be just some small blog post somewhere that says "In other news, Blah DeBlah is the new drummer for Dream Theater" like it's not a big deal... but it is a HUGE deal so why not try and make it exciting and fun for everyone?  As a fan since 1991 I'm loving this approach.  The fact that DT are taking so much time (or did anyway) to try and find the right drummer and, more importantly, the right personality to try and make something magical really shows they care.  They didn't ask for this to happen but here they are having to deal with an unimaginable scenario.

It's like the small group of hardcore fans that want DT to get respect and paid for what they do for a living... but not too much.  They want DT to be famous... but not too famous.  They want DT to make great music... but not if it makes them too famous or too rich.  These are very selfish fans, IMO, cuz they want to keep DT in their back pockets and only enjoy it for themselves or few selected individuals.  You know, they want studio footage and "making ofs" but then something like this comes out and they get all mad about it like DT are selling out.

I just don't get why we can't be happy for DT, and MP, for just trying to do what they love to do, even if it's not together.  MP leaving and a new drummer coming in IS A BIG DEAL and to have the new drummer announced as a footnote somewhere would be disrespectful to everyone involved, especially to those who actually auditioned.

Good words.

Its funny how this trailer made so many people mad.

I'm down with the documentary thing, even though I was hesitant at first. As long as it pays respects to those who didn't get the gig.

jonny108

Can't wait for this documentary, hopefully the whole thing will be here this week.   :metal

1st episode just got posted at Roardunner.

Tomislav95

It's Marco Minneman. Look at the end of video clip, what JLB says to JP? Or it's a trap for naive fans(like me)?

ZKX-2099

This documentary wins best soundtrack award.

Who knows. Could be edited to make you think that way. Can't wait for episode 2 and 3.

I loved how they're going at it. And JP pretty much explained why they're doing this. "We don't want people to be...oh ooo I don't know"

Tomislav95

Yea, great documentary. Hope they will upload 2nd part soon

Mangini seems awesome.

Wait for the other monsters...
If they're half as eager as Mangini we're going to be in for someting!

inoku

well i never expected they release the first episode this early. when i first saw the trailer i was thinking the first episode would be in a week or two.

RuRoRul

I hope they don't wait too long before posting the other parts, because I'm really looking forward to seeing them  :tup

Ben_Jamin

I felt the same way Inoku. As a matter of fact I was just wondering when part 1 would be out and then Wham! It was out.

I had never heard JMX speaking!!!!

Getting serious now, I started liking Mangini a little after watching some videos this past few days, but now I don't anymore. I didn't really like what I saw from this short clip.
Hoping to hear the rest for the guys. (Except Priestier)

I've change my vote from bad into good one ;) That documentary watched in all will be awesome, but would be more awesome if they would release all auditions...

How often do you guys think they are going to release these videos until it's finished?  A new one every day? Every few days?  Every week?

ariich

Part 1 was great, and if Mangini is the chosen one then I'm very happy with that. His playing is clearly excellent and he really seems to get on with them all really well.

I have to say I'm really surprised by how good this is. While I wasn't negative about this from the start in any way I didn't expect too much from it, but this is actually interesting and fun to watch. Just has an honest and realistic touch to it. Looking forward to the next parts.
