Why is the threat of breaking this rule, "We will shut down the website"?

Because, at the time, there was far too much piling on Mike.  And if we go down a road where people are going to en masse flagrantly disregard the forum rules, I'm not going to continue to volunteer my time running a forum.

Exactly.  Granted, he handled some things poorly and said some things publicly he shouldn't have said, and that's fine to talk about, but not if it isn't being done in a constructive way.

Yup, but what can ya do when a member leaves who was an original member and from an underground band that people highly loved.

I'm hoping for an announcement by the end of this month, hopefully.

One of those old threads made the claim that Mike threatened to take legal action on DTF because people were saying things about him, and that that's why that rule was in place. I never bought into that, and I'm glad that it's not true.

Being a member since the forums were on the website, he did threaten to shut it down. Even then people made insane comments about them...

He has nothing to do with this forum, and so did nothing of the sort.

Maybe you're thinking of the official forum years ago.
