Met members of DT on 15 occasions.  Here are some highlights:

Derek gave his phone number to a hot girl that I brought to a show in '96.  Such a player.

John Myung reluctantly autographing a photo of him playing keys live in Nightmare Cinema.

After the infamous "riot" show in LA, suggesting extra songs with MP to slip into the next night's show to make up for short set that evening.  He added Voices.

Laughing with JP over the fact that I learned Change of Seasons in its entirety the previous winter break, but basically forgot it soon thereafter.  He said not too worry because he didn't remember how to play it either.  Funny enough, the following leg of the Metroplis 2000 tour, ACOS made its overdue return to the setlist.

. . . I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff.

I met MP , JP and Steve Vai at after a G3 show in Phoenix a few years back.  Satch had to catch a flight I guess but the three of them were getting on the bus.  MP was backing up JP for his set and he was a cool guy.  He came over to sign auto's and I asked him if he was having a good time and he told me it was like "being on vacation" he got to jam with his friend without the pressure of a three hour show.

As for JP.... I couldn't of gained more respect for the guy after that night.  He walked over as cool and quiet as could be and talked with a small group of us.  Just real down to earth.  This was right after he cut his hair and I hadn't seen a picture of him yet.  So I said... "what the hell?"  He told me that his timing was perfect for cutting his hair because we were in Phoenix in the summer time.

Then, some drunk douche bag lumbers into the conversation and starts taking over the conversation.  We were all annoyed and pissed but JP was as cool and calm with this guy as he was with us.  The drunky started crying and telling JP about the song "Take Away My Pain" and about how much it meant to him because his grandpa died.  He grabbed JP and hugged him (for an uncomfortable amount of time)
JP didn't look annoyed at all.  He looked simpathetic and engaged.  It was unbelievable how patient he was with this dude.  As if I weren't a big enough fan already...... JP just gave me another reason why... He is the man!!!

That drunk guy is probably somebody registered at this forum (if he was crying about a DT song, he is probably a huge fan, and therefore is a poster here)...

I saw JP at G3 in Melbourne in 2006, I had paid for the Joe Satriani meet and greet so they kept us all seperated, but back then I was just getting into DT so at the time it was no great loss. I was chosen with my ex to go backstage for the encore, and the two chosen from JP meet and greet did not come backstage at all missing out on meeting MP, Dave Weiner etc.

December 2009 Melbourne

Meet and Greet They take the photo first then we line up again for the autographs. Now I wish it had been JM, JLB, JR, JP, MP instead it was MP, JP, JR, JM, JLB the reason for this was because I knew I was nervous but I never realized how much. I love MP and JP but I could not string two words together, enough to ask them to sign stuff like Lifting Shadows and the Limited Edition poster thing from the black box, but to tell them how much it meant to meet them I couldn't do it. If the order was reversed perhaps a different outcome.
With Jordan all was fine, I even ended up in his video and JM and JLB were so polite, friendly.
I do regret this and wish I could turn back time especially to meet JP again, but it would probably happen all over again   :facepalm  now I was 33 at the time, but I felt like a teenager all over again..... it really puts me off meet and greets but I know next time one is announced off I will go again.  :) I have the same regret from Steve Vai 96, 2000, 2004, 2006!  :)

At a show at the Pantages in L.A., I had decent seats.  The guy next to me (who I didn't know) and I were enjoying the show when a woman and two kids with ear-muff headphones sat right behind us.  The kids were standing on the seats and the woman was saying...."look, there's daddy." she was pointing to MP and waving.  During a song, Mike pointed and waved in our direction and the dude next to me went ape shit saying....."Dude!! Mike's pointin' at us!!!."  So, while he is doing his best "air" drum solo, i'm laughing my ass off.  After I stopped pissing my pants with laughter, I crushed his dream and informed him that Mike was purely waving to his family.... not us.  Good times.... well at least for me.  :rollin

It was Friday, June 27 2008.  Me and a couple buddies flew out to L.A. from Phoenix for the LTE Downey show.   We rented a car and drove to the hotel which was right next door to Downey Theatre.  After we checked in, my friends needed to go across the street and get some stuff at the grocery store.  I needed some cash, so I went to the ATM at the bank next to the hotel.

As I'm walking over there, I see a familiar looking guy outside the lobby walking around, talking on a cell phone.  I'm like, "holy crap, that's JP!"  They're staying here too?  Well, makes sense right?  The venue is just next door.  So, I keep walking like I didn't notice.  I'm at the ATM trying to get my cash as fast as possible as I keep looking back to see if he's still there.
As I'm walking back, I see my buddies in front of the lobby and they're pointing over at JP who is still talking on the phone.  As I walked by him again, I could tell he was arguing with the person on the phone.  The three of us just hung around outside the lobby waiting for him to finish his phone call.  JP wasn't a happy camper whatever the reason may have been, but when he finished my friend walked over to him and said, "hi John, do you mind if we get a get a picture real quick?"

JP was cool about it, but you could tell that it wasn't the best time to ask him.  It was great to finally meet him, but I wish it had been under better circumstances.  I'll tell ya though, whatever he was upset about, it sure didn't affect his playing that night!

About a half hour later, we were walking through the lobby and saw JR walk in!  I'm like, dudes!  Check it out.  So, we approached him too and he was so cool.  Jordan is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet.  He talked to us for a few minutes and the guy that walked in with him took our picture.  What a treat that was and the show was scheduled to start in just a few hours.  Later, we walked over to check out the theatre to see if we could get in for the sound check, but they had it locked up.  But, we hung around outside and could hear them playing a few songs from the setlist.  When they were finished with the sound check, we saw MP walking out from behind the venue heading back to the hotel.  I was being covert and looked like he was in a hurry so we didn't approach.

Later that night, we saw an awesome show.  One of the best experiences of my life and I've got the show on DVD to boot.  One of my friends had to go back to Phoenix the next morning, but me and my other friend decided to book a flight up to San Francisco and see them again the following night for the final show.  Rock n Roll baby!  BTW, we saw Tony Levin walking through the airport terminal at LAX.
What a weekend!!

Sorry for the lengthy read, but I just had to share.   :)
