I've asked myself this question and thought I throw it out here as a good starting post on these here forums.

Why not?  I can't really imagine why anyone would vote "no."

ricky

If he isn't a pick totally out of left field that i think will never work in a million years.

then yeah, ill accept him.

Super Dude

Accepting?  Hell, I know I speak for at least one other person here when I say I welcome him/her.

Who voted no?? Is MP lurking the boards?

Implode

How many people will vote "yes", then when the drummer is finally announced will rage?

dongringo

I vote yes...and there will be no reason to rage.

Quadrochosis

THAT'S ENOUGH!

I will not accept anyone who is not Mike Portnoy!

As long as he doesn't try to sing I'd venture to say I'm more along the lines of excited.
That'd be a real step up.

SeventhSon

I'm sure the new drummer will be great. I can't imagine the DT guys being the types to take this kind of a decision lightly. Considering the discussion and debate that goes into their musical compositions, surely their choice a new drummer is going to be the right choice for everyone involved.

Ben_Jamin

Of course, since the new album will be epic.

ddtonfire

Unconditionally.

As long as they don't suck.

As opposed to continuing the band without a drummer?

Fuck yeah I will, bring him on, let's make glorious normal drummer-fan relationship love together.

politically correct?

Why would people not accept him, whoever he is?  Goes double for me because I don't know a damn thing about drumming, so I won't even be able to tell if it's a "good fit" or not anyway.

Accept yes, but if it's Mangini i surely would be disappointed...

well technically its not singular, as there is a plural amount of drummers that could be the chosen one.

Without hearing the new album why?

SnakeEyes

The new drummer doesn't play with enough emotion.

Of course. I don't see why I shouldn't be.

ThroughHerEyesDude6

I can see another person there, sure. I will be accepting.

It's not going to be the same, but change is good. Besides, the pattern in their discography dictates that this album will be great. Analyze this:

(In bold are the albums that are absolute favorites/great albums as a whole)

When Dream and Day Unite
Images and Words
Awake
Falling Into Infinity
Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Train of Thought
Octavarium
Systematic Chaos
Black Clouds & Silver Linings
[New album]

Someone else picked up on this! I had a massive theory going based on this.

Then I listened to Octavarium for the first time in ages and it wasn't that great
