They're not really solos, they're just the bits where the rest of the band drops out whilst the bass plays a nice riff

gotcha.

more bass leads would slay dragons. or bass and drum unisons.

you know, years back after watching the score dvd for the first time and hearing Another Won for the first time, i thought them bass/drum unisons in there were quite bad ass...and then i started hoping that re-visiting the song might inspire some bass/drum unisons on their next album. well, that didnt exactly happen. but maybe JM and the new guy can get funky together.
