The band is there.  Here is proof.  Get a picture of the drummer!

Or if you're a girl call and say "Hi, this is Bonnie Mangini. Mike's not answering his cell, can you get him on the line for me?"

Hahahaha! Ohhh I love your ethics.

That said, I do approve of the idea that someone stakes out the studio. Pretty sure this is confirmed as the one they've been using. They may have switched studios by now, but if anyone's in the region, it'd definitely be worth a snoop.

I have a couple of free hours on Thursday. I am in Jersey so the ride would not be a prob. I will pretend to deliver a pizza to a Mr. John Petrucci.

haha, so called paparazzi staking out DT. Next thing you know it will be on TMZ LOL.

njdtfan

But, until someone can prove they are there. I will stay right here in Jersey.

I wrote up a proof, but I'm very nervous when it comes to showing off my work.  Just know that I proved that the drummer is in the studio.

NOW GO!

Now compare to the equipment visible in this gallery...

Even the rug matches. Someone else originally found out - and even matched the control room equipment. I'll see if I can find the origin of the info.

After years and years of pointless analysing of Lost, I thought that everything was over. No more frame-by-frame analyses or alternative timelines ,but yesterday after seeing Jordan's picture of JLB piratizing the studio, I realized I had put my deerstalker hat back on, light my pipe and solve this mystery.

First stop was at Beartracks studio. I thought it would be a good place to start, because of the many albums Dream Theater has recorded there, but sadly my long drive deep into the woods was for nothing. No more Beartracks Studio...

I knew I had to go on. Pirate James might be piratizing some studio right this moment.

My next visit was at Avatar Studios and I had to find a way to get in. Who would suspect a Pizza delivery guy, I thought. Luckily my plan worked and I was able to take a look at Studio A's control room.

https://www.avatarstudios.net/rooms/studio_a_photo.html

Just a quick glance at Jordan's photo I had with me...

https://plixi.com/p/72482100

and I understood I was at the wrong studio again. Though the pictures were similar, my trained eyes were able to see few differences; The control panel and the wood on the wall.

I was already starting to lose my faith, when suddenly my car radio woke from coma after decades of unconsciousness: This Dying Soul from Dream Theater's Train of Thought album.

My dying soul came back to life and knew instantly where it had to go: Cove City Sound Studios at Long Island, NY.

I parked my car near the studio and looked my watch: 6:00 sharp. Not a bad time at all, I thought, and started to put my pizza delivery outfit back on. My disguise worked like charm once again and I was able get to the studio A control room in no time.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

Same No Smoking-sign, same control panel, same everything with the exception of speakers and their placement. James must have piratized the old ones...

Knowing my nature, I had to double check if the live room was the same as in the pictures that Jordan took from John & John playing their instruments...

https://covecitysoundstudios.com/WP23/wp-content/gallery/studio/liveroom.jpg

and again a quick glance was enough,

https://plixi.com/p/71298900

https://plixi.com/p/71294856

The floor is clearly the same and even the different coloured wood panel below Muyng right hand can be found.

My search was finally over: Dream Theater is recording at Cove City Sound Studios

But was that The End?

Did I miss something?

I drove back home, threw my hat deep into the closet and fell asleep on my bed without knowing that Cove City Sound Studios is located at North Shore of Long Island which might make it the place that Mike Mangini meant when he said the following:

"Heading to up the North Shore this week for rec session #2 of 2011. I will update my sites w/info asap. My Books site will be down for a while."

Only time will tell...

Here we go! Compare the images. He's fictionalised the investigation, but it's very conclusive.

It was a first post, by a great great man. The pizza delivery guy  :lol

Wow.  I never visit the drummer thread, so I'm happy you started a new thread and posted this.  I live on Long Island, about 30 mins from the studio according to Google Maps.  I'll possibly go to the studio and park outside for a couple hours tonight or tomorrow night.  I'd appreciate if someone else tries to call first and see if they can determine the drummer that way.  That seems much easier than being a DT stalker.

At first, I'm hesitant to be sneaky like this.  But to be honest, I'm kinda bugged that DT hasn't been communicating with fans or told us when to expect the announcement.  They said they would take on Portnoy's public relations role in that respect.  This huge drummer issue is their first chance to demonstrate their enhanced fan communication and they haven't lived up to expecations, IMO.

Do it. Who cares about being sneaky?  :lol

It's for the greater good.

Isn't this thread a bit creepy?

Yes.

For the record, I have no intention of stalking the band, and even less intention of publically revealing who their drummer is.  I don't want to have to ban myself...

Only a bit creepy?

Something's creepy because it's inexplicable.  The drummer announcement has taken forever and people want to know.  I get that.  I just don't get stalking as a solution.

yeshaberto

i have been wondering why it is not possible that they are letting the new guy record with them on a trial basis, and they are waiting to determine if he passes the probation before they announce him?

hefdaddy42

I don't know.  If I lived close to there, I admit I would be tempted.

You can't prove that's not true, but I really really doubt it.  The thing DT has emphasized over and over again about the new drummer is that when the pick him it's because he's the guy.  If someone's recording on a trial basis, then he's not the guy.

Also, look at how many times they've said the reveal's coming soon and it never did.  If they planned on it taking a while, I think they would have just said that.

Mebert78

To me, a couple-hour stakeout isn't creepy.  I work in the newspaper industry and my co-workers are asked to stakeout or something similar on occasion.  Staking out at a public area and observing is different from stalking.  Isn't it? lol.  Idk.  Anyway, my main concern is disrespecting the band and not allowing them to announce the drummer at their own pace.  I don't want me or anyone else here to be that jerk fan that causes trouble for the band or forces their hand.  However, as I said earlier, they've had many months now to make an announcement or set a date for announcement and have remained hush-hush.  The fans are getting antsy now.

Well, they really never said "the announcement's coming soon", I think. What I get from the interviews, is that they're doing it when everything's right and steady. That time was never specified to be short or long.

Ben_Jamin

Its not their fault. Its the fans fault for not being patient/having lives. Whenever they're ready I'll be here waiting.

bout to crash

Yeah, this is a little creepy. I have family in Glen Cove and my cousin took my around to see all the crazy houses in that area. Swanky-ass people.
