There HAS to be an Austrian date somewhere between the fifth and the ninth. Fingers crossed.

Stoked to see dates finally getting announced. Now if we can get the drummer's name!

Drummer...Portnoy?
\o\ lol /o/

ZBomber

Interesting.  Doesn't really affect me at all, but for those over in Europe it should be some good shows!

Mladen

I'm definitely seeing Dream Theater this summer, but I still need something closer than Italy. Hungary or Bulgaria would be perfect.  :metal

emtee

Really torn about seeing them live. I think the best way I can support the band is to buy the album but pass on the
live stuff. I realize it's shallow, but not seeing MP up there quarterbacking from behind the kit would be tough for me.
I wish the band success though as they try to move forward.

Peace

Mladen

You seem to be forgetting that the other four guys will still be dominating the stage.  ;D

This would be a good theory if it wasn't completely false. Studio albums do next to nothing for bands anymore, all their good income comes from tickets and merch.

Also, I'm very glad the news we've all been waiting for has finally arrived!  :yeahright

emtee

I realize that the band gets virtually nil from the album sales, but that is my internal compromise. At this stage
of the game it's the best I can do.

theusualmadness

Can't wait until they start announcing U.S tour dates!

zxlkho

Anathema is opening? Damn, I wish I could be there.

Dimitrius

Yes, DT, give us tour dates but don't even hint at WHO IS THE DRUMMER!!!!

Damnit!

blackngold29

High Voltage kind of get screwed because it was their post-Portnoy debut and then 'sorry, we're doing these other things first.'

Also RR is saying 'more on the album soon' whatever that means.

cyberdrummer

I don't think High Voltage ever said it was the post-Portnoy debut, and I'd imagine they would have been told about the possibility of any dates before the festival.

Actually, as I understand it this is exactly backwards....   Buying the Album supports the label, who I suppose you could say indirectly supports the band, but going to the concerts puts the money in the band's pockets.   I am sure that someone who knows more than I do will surely dispute my understanding of the way the world works but I have heard this from more than one source.

TheVoxyn

Glad to see Anathema opening such a big gig :). They deserve the attention it will gain them.

jonny108

I read this as 3 New Drummer Dates Announced.  Agh...getting fed up of the word drummer now, can we change it to drumist?

Nick

Anathema is opening? That's awesome!

Actually, Gamma Ray is opening. Anathema is the first act. But ticket site says that it will be "an evening with"... Dunno what to expect at all.

About the venues, they are quite big. In Castello Scaligero, Verona, for Rammstein there were 15000 people. Maybe it's me going too deep, but i think they are planning something big in terms of marketing and music direction. Because they've never attempted to go to such a big venue, as their biggest crowd in Italy had been around 9000 people (Turbulence Tour, the first leg after Scenes from a Memory).

Holy shit! I'd be insane if I missed Dream Theater and Gamma Ray playing together. This show is a must for me.

Is there much point having this thread and the main one in the Concerts forum? I can keep that one updated.

This is for announcements of new shows. Your thread will be for discussions, obviously.

Oh by the way Ford will be releasing a new car in the coming months...but we can't or won't tell you what kind of engine it has, or if it even has an engine. But, you should be excited anyhow.

Is Dream Theater actually playing below Slipknot?
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
