STEVETHEATER

Hello there,

Here I have some new artwork I want to share with you guys.
Last week I was watching Tim Burton's Big Fish again (awesome movie btw) and looking at the cover I got inspired.
So I came up with these 2 covers. I made the tree in Adobe Illustrator and it took me 'about 7 hours to make.
Halfway I was like.... pffffff wtf am I doing?
Hope you like the end result.

PS: Oh yes, the 2nd is totally Storm Thorgerson style. Couldn't help myself.  ;)

Steve

Yes, seriously. Your quality is up there with the big names.

The concept is a lot cooler than the execution. The color and font choice for the first one hurt my eyes and I almost like the landscape minus the Majesty symbol on the second one. The guy in the corner really ruins the whole look for some reason.

Are you familliar with Storm Thorgerson's work? Go here https://www.stormthorgerson.com/
The reason I put the man in there is that you get the idea on how big ''the object'' (in this case the Majesty symbol) is.

You've clearly got a lot of talent I just think you should learn to utilize it better. A lot of your work feels a bit too familiar at times but it's still well done.

Love your cover art Steve  :tup Do you by any chance have the various covers etc available in different sizes to be used as wallpapers? That'd be neat :)

The first one is great and the second one is amazing, I can definitely see the Storm Thorgerson inspiration who is my personal favorite album cover designer.

stunning work.  I really love the 2nd, as do most of us so far.  great efforts!

LieLowTheWantedMan

I, personally, prefer the first. They're both amazing, though.

The Letter M

Amazing work as always Steve! Both are great, and I love the use of the Majesty symbol as more than just a symbol on a sign - it's part of the actual environment itself! And yes, it's very Storm-like, which of course, is a great thing! :tup

Fantasitc work Steve.  Now if you could work on the tour shirt for us.  May I sugest this with your new logo? ;)

"I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'." - Bon Newhart.

That's very funny Kings. I had a similar thought actually.

Wow.  Second one in particular looks incredible, but personally I think it'd be ideal without the guy standing in the corner.  That throws it off a little, IMO.

Both of 'em are very cool though. :tup

I love the second one. The first one would be good for a singles release. :)

The second one is mindblowing.

IMO it would be better without the person, but still, incredible stuff!

emindead

The second one is freaking amazing. Although I do concur with orcus: if you take the guy out, it would be better. IMHO.

The Letter M

The title has me thinking... while their next album might not be titled The Eleventh Day, what about the The Eleventh Hour, which "is a colloquial expression meaning "a time which is nearly too late"."... seems a bit cliche, but why not? They're Dream Theater, and they can do whatever they want. Besides, something like that might be related to one/some/all of the album's songs/lyrics. I mean, after all, we got a title like Black Clouds & Silver Linings, which takes part of it's title from the expression "Every cloud has a silver lining". It could be a running joke that their album titles are derived from expressions! Also, Train Of Thought comes to mind (no pun intended).

i think you should change the guy to a different person and it would be perfect, or get rid of him. not really sure
