The girl I took out is sitting in the front seat, she picks up my ipod and says "mind if I DJ?" I told her to go for it. She starts scrolling through and she says "Dream Theater". I immediately get excited and think it's too good to be true.  She then continues with "you're one of those people?" My heart sank.

I know what you bros are thinking, it was a cool story.

lordxizor

Hey... she's heard of them. That's a start!

KevShmev

So, you didn't retort with, "So, does this mean you are not going to eat my ass and balls?"

Here you go. Every girl I've talked to has always said "What's Dream Theater??"

The saddest part about all of this is how poor her grammar skills are. :p

SHE IS NOT THE ONE.

You might as well just bury her in your backyard now, no point in trying to work things out.

I immediately get excited and think it's too good to be true. She then continues with blowing a whistle in time with the music. My heart sank.

zerogravityfat

you should have asked her if she is one of those who listen to pretty much everything

Cool story Bro!!! ;)

I hope she turns out to be as cool as you!!!

Zook

So what happened? Did you just break down and cry and take her home? Was she repulsed and decided to take a cab? Did she turn on the radio and jam out to Nickelback? Did you backhand Bill Paxton to death?

ddtonfire

If you've heard of Dream Theater, but don't like them, we are not a match.

"youre one of those people?"
-Yes. Those who try to stay on the page. Those who are bleeding a pool in a shape of a heart. Those who will never be open...
*approaches girl's face*
-AGAIN.

What you should have done, Chino is ACTUALLY act like one of "those" people.  Talk about how deep their music is, and how they're approaching topics no on in the mainstream is, then make jokes about how Nickelback can't tune their own guitars or play a riff in 15/8.  When "Home" comes on, don't move a muscle.  After that, carry yourself with haughtiness that you're such an intellectual rebel.  She won't be able to resist.

SnakeEyes

You should have said:

"You mean people who actually listen to good music?"

Then, you should have dropped her off and made her walk home.

She ended up picking Americana by The Offspring ( :metal ) We continued on our way to the Connecticut Science Center. We were actually ripping on Nickelback for a good five minutes at one point.  :lol

When I first met my wife I told her I was going to see Rush the next week. After an eternal pause she said wow I would LOVE to see them. We've been married several years, and have seen Rush several times together. Beyond our musical choices, we have a wonderful, respectful relationship and rarely if ever, fight. Many of my friends are miserable as they are with 'soul suckers' - women who constantly harass them, pick fights, judge them, and belittle them. Not a place you want to be in life. We've all dated or been with these 'soul suckers' before and there are some red flags.

Stating "you're one of those people?" is a red flag. It means she is going to constantly judge you beyond just your musical tastes. She will tell you how to live your life before long. Do yourself a favor, and find a chick who will scroll through your Ipod and only comment on the positive stuff..."you're into XX band? Cool! So am I".

A positive, non-judgmental, secure mate makes for a wonderful life kid.

My girlfriend loves: Dimmu Borgir, Bleeding Through, The Mars Volta, Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, Symphony X, Pantera, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Between The Buried And Me, Mastodon, and Mr. Bungle

but, cannot stand Dream Theater. So, who knows?

My wife has terrible musical taste for the most part, and I've never been one to "try to get people into" stuff.  Left to her own devices, she listens to country music and shit like Katy Perry or other garbage.  But she's fairly open-minded and she'll usually appreciate whatever I put on, including some DT.

Other than the stating/asking thing, I agree.  It doesn't matter who the band or artist is, you cannot say that someone who listens to their music is one of "those" people without you yourself being even worse of a musical bigot than person you're trying to judge.

What the fuck does "one of those people" even mean?  It can be good or bad or anything else, but it doesn't say a thing about the person.

Unless she's hot, I can't see any point in continuing to spend any time with her.  Musical bigot.

The pooper. You know what to do.

This, and make her ride her bike home afterwards.

You're taking Zeltar's advice a bit too far for Chino to employ. Chino doesn't ride with training wheels.

(Zeltar, the baby jokes are becoming useless, you are definitely not the youngest here anymore)

Hell no dude, she shouldn't even be able to walk when chino's finished.
