Would you like to see a DT EP after the next album?

I was thinking, wouldnt it be cool if DT release an EP once every couple of albums with a few live gems added onto the end a la A Change of Seasons followed by a mini 1 month tour playing smaller venues and mixing up the write-record-tour cycle?

It would be great to get some new music in what seems like an endless wait between new albums and we would get some extra music?

What is everyone else's thoughts on this?  Maybe 1 epic and a few bonus songs like Surrounded 07 or Trial of Tears with extended jams/nuggets etc or even some jam tracks that expore other styles? Or should they just focus on the main releases?

If we get another ACOS, and it turns out to be really epic - I wouldn't mind it at all. Just no cover medleys....

ACoS was released as an EP because they originally intended to release it with IaW, but had some problems with it. In my opinion it came out THAT good because they literally had the song for 6 years.

The next EP they released was Wither, and it didn't include much, so yeah...unless an EP means something truly amazing, they shouldn't bother.

Wasnt Wither released as a single?  I am suggesting a new epic song or something similar in that sense but your right there, needs to be something worth it!

Fair enough, I stand corrected...but I think you what I was getting at with the term EP..... ;)  In Australia, its generally considered a single is a disc with a song on an album, plus some bonus remixes and an EP is an album not long enough to be an album as an in-between.  Anyone, feel free to correct me if im worng.

While Wither may be referred to as an EP, it's definitely more of a single with some cool B-side content.

As for an EP in the traditional sense, like what the OP is referring to; it could certainly be a cool idea.

The 'Wither EP' didn't come out until after the song had been released on BCSL, so it was more like a Ytse Jam 'making of' of alternate mixes than a traditional EP. ACoS was never released on anything else, so it's more of a true EP.

As for the question, that would be cool. If you wanted to stretch it you could say Raw Dog was something like that, but another one-off 20 minute song would be cool as a follow up to DT11, which I don't see having many epics.

The Big Medley is awesome, stfu.

I'd be down for an EP or two between albums, just as long as the songs don't sound like Raw Dog.

I remember I really wished for them to release Raw Dog + some live stuff from BC&SL as an EP. I'd be really happy about it, but I guess it's unlikely to happen.

Overall, I'm not sure. If they feel like doing an EP, then of course why not. But I don't think recording an epic just for the sake of making it an EP would work.

I'd like to see it if they did something different, like an acoustic ep, or maybe some remixes of older songs.

I'd be more excited about that than BC&SL or SC

Actually, the ACoS EP is about as long as most albums.  :P

I'd prefer if bands stuck to just doing whole records.  EP's are a money sink for consumers mostly, unless there is some theme to it like The Dear Hunter EPs that are coming out next year.  Stick to making albums, and if low and behold there is something that didn't fit on the album but its TOO epic to not record, fine, but I don't want band to go out of their way to make an EP.
