John Petrucci said that in an interview, they made it like Mike Portnoy said it. I think it was in the Classic Rock "Prog" magazine interview.

That being said, I think it might be a few years before everyone involved is ready to record together again. As much as I would LOVE a LTE3, realistically I don't think it will happen soon.
