Thought Chamber would be the best opening band for Dream Theater. Most if not all the DT fans will like TC, and they're not too well known, so they could get some exposure that way to an audience that would appreciate them.

I'd rather see them take Moon Safari out on the road, but with DT's crowd getting heavier I don't know how they'd go over. Plus, DT would have to try to follow them.  :lol
Moon Safari would be great.

rumby, I've never seen JR bitch about set lengths.

Now that you mentioned Spock's beard, it would be the best thing ever if Dream Theater made Spock's beard their opening act on their next tour.

For some reason, this made me think of the ultimate dick move: having Dream Theater invite (whoever MP's playing with next summer) to tour with them as the opening band. Can you imagine? :lol

Avenged Sevenfold would not be the best opener for Dream Theater.

Oh I know, but I just meant hypothetically. You know, for the purposes of humour.

I can understand the challenge of a full tour of evening with, but I don't see why they couldn't do a handful of them in large cities.  I would love to see 3 hours of DT again.

Considering how JR had already bitched about the brutal concert lengths at some point,

Huh?

From Lifting Shadows:

"Mike does it to himself. He's such a madman. He wants to play these long sets and then it's so tiring. I actually heard a hint the other day that maybe we would shorten things a little bit and I was like 'Thank you!' This man is finally coming to reason. I've always been of the thinking that it's too much for the audience as well – or maybe I'm just getting old. I don't know. I know there are fans out there that want more and more songs, but when you're presenting music at that kind of intensity and volume, I think it gets to be too much after a couple of hours."

DarkEternalNight

I wanna see the Evening With... format but if we could get Opeth as an opener, I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Around 2 hours would be cool i guess, not too many epics in the setlist and i think it would be good.
In my spare time I make music! Check it out. :)
