I just heard this little ditty on the MP site. It was done by a member making his first post. His band name is Ninegauge and he wrote a Mike Portnoy tribute song.
I was prepared to roll my eyes when I listened to it, but it was actually a nice job. A tab bit cheesy in parts, but it sounded genuine and I applaud the effort.
Check it out for yourself...

Some sections of the lyrics were very well done. Hope Mike likes it.

This song bleeds cheese, but the lyrics are actually really good!

MajorMatt

I just don't get it.

Why are so many people acting like he's dead or something?

That's not what I took from the song.

This. The song is cheesy as hell, but the lyrics are pretty cool, tho.

It may have been cheesy, but it was still good. And I can't believe how rude the people are being in the comments box (if that's any of you, then wow)

While some of the lyrics are definitely corny, and the author seems like he wants to mount and ride Mike like a shetland pony, I still give him credit for his effort.

LCArenas

Not to mention the keyboard in the beginning and the vocals make me cringe.

The first thought I had was that this song would sound more natural with cartman singing it.

OMG tick, I don't know what's going on, but I'd say recently every 3rd of your posts is a serious POTY contender.

WHY does every MP farewell post have to include a metaphor about Mike being "dead" hehe?

fllnsprrw

Not sure about the song, but me wants the font he used for the lyrics!

Dublagent66

A little too soon for tributes don't you think?

Good going guys: another person with nothing but enthusiasm bullied away from sharing.

To be brutally honest: I cringed. Lyrically, is isn't that bad. The prominent auto-tune in certain parts made me cringe.

These aren't small children. They don't deserve automatic praise simply to let them know that they're "good enough". They'd adults and deserve honest reactions. He's getting honest reactions. I'd probably be super upset too if I got the reactions he got.....that's why I don't show anyone my stuff.

When I was young there was no internet, and you learned that lesson through your immediate friends. You'd show them something and they'd be brutally honest about it. Thing is, you learned your lesson, and your friends forgot about it, and you either stopped doing that thing, or tried to improve on it.
Now kids do the same thing with the internet, only that the internet never forgets.

So true.

Man, I didn't want to watch this for the longest time because I could sense how cheesy it was from a mile away.  Well, I decided I was going to listen to it and see if there was anything particularly lolworthy, and it was removed by the user.  Must've been pretty bad.

It wasn't bad actually. The music was generic but quite nice, the vocals were nice but the lyrics......they were really bordering on creepy. If you watch the Faith + 1 episode of south park, it's kind of like that, but not meant to be funny.

and remember that not everyone ripped it apart. Some people liked it, but of course that's not enough for the author. When you post something like this and put yourself out there do you really expect it to come up all roses? If that's the case you have a rough road ahead. You won't ever please everyone so don't dwell on negative and accentuate the positive! This is the recipe for a strong existence.

I saw this before it was taken down and I thought it was really lame.  Maybe if this was played at MP's funeral then it might be viable but that's about it.  The guys behind the song obviously care about DT enormously to do something like this but I don't know why some people are taking MP's departure so hard as it's not the end of the world by any means... not even close.

I feel the remaining guys getting an ever-growing chip on their shoulders any time they see someone assume DT is over without MP and I really think the new album is going to be something absolutely amazing as they probably feel like they have something to prove.  They need to show that life goes on and that DT is greater than the sum of its parts.

I feel sorry for the fans that have taken things too far as to write-off DT altogether just cuz one guy left.
