I honestly dont think that they would not offer Mike the job sometime down the line...but given the current events, im pretty sure it will happen soon.

And I dont ever see Mike heading back into DT (as much as he will want to, i think his replacement will be permanent).

If AX7 takes MP, and MP even had half a brain, he would tell them to hold off on announcing it until DT found a new drummer. Either way, if that happens the internets is going to be a total shitstorm for a few days.

I would have voted this.

But, if I had to vote with the two choices, I would vote DT announcing their drummer first. MP said he was filling-in on drums for A7X until the end of the year. I think by this time, DT would have had a few months for tryouts and to choose and I believe they will have made their choice by mid-December in order to get ready to go into the studio in January. They might even find a drummer much earlier than I think, though.

Why? Everyone I've talked to in real life about this isn't really a Dream Theater fan, but knows MP is a good drummer and would be excited to hear what he could bring to AX7.

Option 2. Even if MP does become permanent for A7X, the band are still grieving the Rev. (And rightly so, by the way!) It's very strange for someone to just... stop existing. Traumatic. They've got so much more mental stress to work through than DT have. DT just have to get back to business as usual ASAP. They'll be moved by change, but not crippled. A7X need to work things out every little bit at a time.

Honestly, there's no reason at this point to assume A7X will ever make MP their permanent drummer.  Neither the band nor Mike have even hinted that that might happen at any point in time.

DT is auditioning people next month, cause they're starting #11 in January......they need to move. A7X on the otherhand is taking there time with no hurry.

I don't think that A7X will ever annouce MP as their new, permanent drummer. I just can't imagine it, sorry.
DT, on the other hand, are likely to announce their new drummer to their audience by the end of the year imo.

I have no inside information, so this is purely speculation on my part, but I do expect MP will join A7X officially. Not right away. I wouldn't expect that there would be any sort of announcement until they begin toying with the idea to record a follow-up to Nightmare. At that point they'll need to know whether MP's on board with joining them or if they'll need to look elsewhere for another drummer. Another reason why I really think MP will end up with them is because of the camaraderie that he's found with those guys. And the fact that they are a huge and successful band doesn't hurt either. Personally, I hope it doesn't happen because I'm not into A7X, and the idea of someone else being on DT's drum throne is completely foreign to me. That said, I can't ignore my gut feeling.

Yeah, I'll level. I was tipsy when I wrote that. Chances are narrowminded fans would be angry more than the music community. Haven't found any like that here, but I'm sure they're exist somewhere.
