how could a discussion of riffs go by without About To Crash Reprise intro getting a mention?

But yeah, DT has never been riff-centric.

I want a Falling into Infinity pt.2!  :corn

6DoIT2 or 8VM2 or I won't buy it.

I want a new album that is not copy of any of earlier records or I won't buy it.  ;)

And you call yourself a fan.

If by riff, you mean those bass string, thrash-y or heavy metal riffs, then I'll agree that JP hasn't written much of it. But above that, JP has a lot to offer. About to Crash (Reprise), the Glass Prison intro riffs, Pull Me Under, Lie, Blind Faith instrumental, etc. I can keep going on forever.

the Strange De-ja Vu riff that's in "back on my feet..." was written by John Myung.
