I like Myung's style a lot..But..Sheehan should be winning.  :-\

I didn't even notice that Levin wasn't even nominated.  That's just a travesty.  Much like this whole poll.

PlaysLikeMyung

I'm concerned that Geddy didn't do at least a little bit better

also lolslipknot

Chino

The bassist on the Titanic was awesome, I don't understand why he isn't on this poll...

Gadough

Geddy Lee and Paul Gray had almost the same percentage of votes.

No disrespect to Paul Gray, but LOL

Yes, but that is completely irrelevant to the point of this thread and the poll.

*shrugs*  There is no point to internet polls such as this one.

JP on Facebook: John Petrucci - Congrats to JM for "Best Bassist of All Time" Award!

:lol

:lol

"Will John Myung please come up to accept his award!?"

....

....

"John Myung?"

....

Somebody spots him in the back laying out licks on his bass.
"He's back here, John, go accept your award."

JM: "....*goes back to playing."

;D I think he's just shy on camera..

Perpetual Change

Let's take this poll for what it was: a tribute to what a cool guy Myung is, and how his bass playing has reached such a huge scope of people.

The Best Bassist Ever? Of course not. But over the past 25 years, Myung's reached a larger audience than most the guys on that list. And he's been the ideal bassist for DT. Always the backbone, rarely stealing the spotlight. The fact is, you'd be hard pressed to find a bassist who doesn't know who Myung is. And you'd be harder to pressed to find someone who knows Myung and doesn't admire him for at least a few of his qualities.

Mladen

I'll be the one to admit I voted for Myung because of being a Dream Theater fanboy. He's probably my third favorite bass player, but I felt that Steve Harris and Les Claypool would have bigger support than John, so I voted for him. I'm still happy about this, though.

Go JMX!  :metal

LieLowTheWantedMan

I voted JMX, but only because Pete Trewavas was not in the poll.

Zook

I don't remember ever hearing bass in Slipknot's music. Congrats John!

DarkLord_Lalinc

Wow lol, that's one pretty dense award  :lol Glad for JM, maybe this will translate in some killer bass on the next album.  :tup

i know people who will give me so much shit for mentioning DT, but then say "but thier bassist is a f*cking beast"

SnakeEyes

I don't agree with this poll at all.  I don't think Myung could ever touch Jaco.  But, that's just me.  Pretty cool that he's getting acknowledged, though.

DarkLord_Lalinc

People taking this way too seriously should consider this was a poll cast by a magazine, and had around 1100 voters.

Congrats to JM but it's a shame Victor Wooten doesn't have more votes.  Why do people call him JMX anyways?  I've probably asked this before but I forgot the reason.

On the bonus features of one of their DVD's (I can't remember which) his dressing room door was labeled JMX

This, for sure.  Victor is amazing.
