JM isn't going anywhere, not if he is smart. The guy has a good life. Why turn it upside down by leaving a band that just had some doors thrown open?

Steven Wilson and Mikael Akerfeldt will be the next ones to leave Dream Theater, to be replaced by Frank Zappa and Celine Dion.

Man, you guys make playing Bass in Dream Theater sound like just another job!

Sure it is, in a way, but being a musician isn't just about having a steady gig and making a living at it.  You're still an artist, and as such, you should always be looking for new ways to express yourself musically.  I'm not saying he should jump ship or anything like that.  I'm just saying that nothing is out of the question.  Mike had a steady gig and walked away from it for reasons of his own, but who's to say what goes on in JM's mind?  He sure isn't saying.

Why is there reason to doubt anything at all in the first place??  What if Myung is creatively happy?  And plus he's doing a Jelly Jam album to get some extra creative juice out.  Everyone makes it sound like DT doesn't do anything for JM besides it being a job.  I bet he is really happy in the band.  MP was really happy in the band too, all he wanted was a break.  No one as far as we know is unhappy with Dream Theater.  And this isn't even about MP leaving, becasuse these "Is Myung happy in DT?" threads pop up all the time here.

Who said anything about doubt?

I'm just saying that nothing is for certain.  We don't know the guys personally, and we only hear a fraction of what goes on behind the scenes.  There's people saying "Why should he leave?  He's got a steady gig and a family to support.  Why would he mess that up?"  That makes it sound like "just a job" and that's what I was responding to.  I've got a steady gig and a family to support, but does that mean I don't even keep my eyes open for other opportunities?  Hell no.

Kosmo

Hopefully not..

He is my favourite from the band.  :metal

JP and JM do everything musically together, remember?  The point of this thread eludes me.  :-\

I didn't read everyone's responses, but here's mine:

Why would JM have agreed to continue with DT if Mike was leaving and he wanted to leave too. What better time to leave than now? I believe that JM is not nearly as unhappy with DT as some people here would like to think.

He's not leaving any time soon, that's for sure.

Creatively speaking, this good be a good thing for Dream Theater. Mike has always been kind of a control freak in the studio. Now that he is gone, maybe some of the other guys can shine more.
