AwakeFromOctavarium

Below Blind Faith, but higher than Glass Prison in my list.

It's great. I love how it has no climax or end as the debate still continues.

ZBomber

I love this song, especially the crazy tapping part towards the end (which would probably be in my top 5 DT moments).

I don't like the song very much, but I don't have a problem with the samples.  Actually, I think DT does a great job with samples, even on songs I dislike.

Zydar

First time listening to DT since MP left now, and I chose TGD.

Ben_Jamin

a dream theater album without samples isn't a dream theater album

LTE3

Excellent song, I saw it live at the Beacon in NYC. The JM intro is awesome, and fun watch. Also I think it has some of MP's best work in it.

I would also like to hear the song sans samples.

Mat JB

The instrumental section is fantastic!

Metropolis Pt. II

I love the samples and I love the song.
I think DT handles sampling very well, and I hope they use some for DT11.

Marvellous G

I like it a lot, but then Tool are my favourite band.

The King in Crimson

Love this song. Probably my favorite on SDoIT and one of my favorites in general.

Great song to crank in the car and sing along to as well.

Infinite Cactus

This song is flawless from start to the finish it has one of the best DT drumming (the beginning and whole song too) one of the best DT solo sectons of the best DT atmospheric sections (7:26-8:10 I love that section) one of the best DT choruses and it has everything awesome it's one of my favorite songs by DT and it's also of the most "grower" type songs I've heard it used to be one of my least favorite DT song some years ago

SnakeEyes

Best post-SFAM song, in my opinion.  The only thing I wish I could change is the length of the intro.  It's a great idea and it's effective, but it's just way too long.  The song could have been like two minutes shorter and the effect would have been the same.

I also have the same problem with the ridiculous keyboard intro/ solos for Lines in the Sand and Octavarium.  I don't think either keyboard intro serves an effective purpose in those songs, though.

You just described a large portion of their post-SFAM output.

Kosmo

I simply love it, add anything = ruin it and remove anything = ruin it. I would go as far as saying it's in my top 3 DT songs.  ;)

Ben_Jamin

this is one of my top 5 songs

Jarlaxle

MetalManiac666

Listened to this song today.  Came to the conclusion it's probably in my top 5.  I would say top 3 Petrucci solo as well and one of Mike's best songs overall.  Fan-fucking-tastic track.

mainframe004

This song is my personal favorite from SDoIT, not considering the title track.

The intro is absolute beauty, and the riff during the transition from intro to verse is so metal.

Perpetual Change

The great debate would be good with or without samples. Space Dyed Vest would suck without the samples. That's my opinion, anyway.
