This line is being horribly misinterpreted

I've been trying to figure out why people are blaming the rest of DT for Portnoy leaving, and it is this line that is causing the damage:

"they determined they do not share my feelings and have decided to continue without me rather than take a breather...I even offered to do some occasional work throughout 2011 against my initial wishes"

Portnoy isn't saying "The band told me that I do the album with them or get out." He's not saying that at all. Mike already said to them that he no longer wanted to be a member; he expected them to disband or maybe even break as a result of the news, but he is saying, "They decided that even though I decided to leave, they want to remain Dream Theater."
