I know that most of this forum is going to be caught of with MP leaving, but I just wanted to ask this question...

Okay, So I just got a brand new top of the line desktop yesterday, and I got Images and Words a few days ago. When I went to rip it to my computer, the drive doesn't appear to read the disc. My drive has been fine with all my other discs I ripped today (I have a bit of catching up because my other computer was pretty much dead)...

Has anyone else had problems with this? And is it an irregular disc, or...?

Edit; You probably need to know what version I have.... On the back, it has;
on the top left - 7567-92148-2 YS [line down] FRANCE CA 851

then at the bottom - ACTO RECORDS, DIVISION OF ATLANTIC RECORDING CORPORATION, 75 ROCKERFELLER PLAZA, NEW YORK, NEW YORK 10019, A Time Warner Company (P) © 1992 Atlantic Recording Corporation for the United States and WEA International Inc. for the world outside of the United States. All Rights Reserved.

bottom right corner - LC 0120.......

Not sure, but track one keeps cutting off in the middle of the song for me.

Sorry I had to

It's the self-destruct feature MP installed on all DT CDs if he were ever to leave the band.

Is the drive not reading it altogether or is it just the software? You could try using a different media player to see if it loads.

I use EAC to rip my cd's....
But it's not Reading it at all. I go to computer (window 7's version of My Computer) clicked on the drive, then it says "insert a disc" and the drive pops open...

Have you tried it in other cd players?
I only have one, really crappy CD player that works with about 2% of my CD's
But, oddly I&W plays on it...

So, there is something wrong with my drive and/or it's software, yes? Is it possible that the disc was made with old technology, that they haven't bothered to updated on my drive?
And, do you think it could be fixed with specific software, or is the hardware the problem?

If it's the hardware, I'll have to force my one of my friends to let me rip it at his house...

EDIT; Whatever it is, I dug out my old laptop and ripped it that way. It took an hour, and the laptop overloaded and turned itself off about 3 or 4 times, but I've got it on my external harddrive now.

Thanks.
