I really like how he plans on being online a little bit more.

QuoteObviously you've all heard the news of Mike's departure from Dream Theater by now.
I felt it important to open up a line of communication in an effort to kill any rumors and to promote clarity.
I love Mike and really hope he's happy and successful in whatever he does.
I realize that Mike was always the one to actively stay in touch with our fans, and I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to try to be at least a bit more present on both mine and DT's websites and to let you all know that I am here.
To me, Dream Theater's story is one of defying the odds, standing for true integrity in music and creating our own success through perseverance and hard work, so although Mike's leaving is heartbreaking, I still look forward to an amazing musical journey that continues on with some of the most talented and respected musicians and composers on the planet!

Now a posting by James

QuoteHi Everyone,

Thought I would give you time to digest the news of Mike's departure. MIke stated that he was burnt out with the DT world and needed a break. We have to respect where he is at and where this will lead him at this particular point in time. With that being said, we are more than pumped to continue the legacy of DT and jump full on into the next chapter. Rest assured it will be great. You can count on it.

On another positive note. Matt and I are psyched with the reaction and reviews 'Static Impulse is receiving around the world. We can't wait until everyone can get their hands on the complete disc. and hear it the way it was intended.
I will be around more often to see how you're all doing and to fill you with any and all news. Take care and not long now until the 27th or 28th depending on where you live.

Kick it up a notch,

James

Very nice posting, JP. I hope people aren't going to read into his words and scrutinize them under a microscope...

I think it's a classy response and I'm glad he's admitting his willingness to be more open and vocal with the fanbase.

Good for you, JP.

-Marc.

YES!  This is exactly what I wanted to hear.  Thanks to JP!!!

It's good to hear from JP on this. Very classy post, and it's good to hear that he's going to make the effort with the online community.

John Petrucci is lovely. I think he's the most pleasant member of Dream Theater. Very humble and subdued. Really, really nice bloke. Really happy that he's gonna be taking an active role in talking to the fans. Poor sod.

ZBomber

John is great! I hope he comes and posts around here too.

The same seems to be the case with JR (and probably JMX if he talked.) They're all great human beings as well as musicians.

DarkLord_Lalinc

I love John Petrucci. I'd go gay for him.

But... John isn't gay. You'd have to get a sex-change and become a woman if you wanted to love him... Which would probably be more extreme, IMO.

Either way... lots of love for JP here. *strokes fur*

John Petrucci. Fuck yes.

As I've said before:

To the future!

One thing I love about this band, is that Petrucci can say anything, and everyone will just agree with it. Its impossible to hate Petrucci.

Oh definitely! JLB and JR are equally really pleasant chaps - I'd love to have any of 'em as a friend - but they come across as forces of nature, almost. With these big, exuberant personalities. JP is a little more mild-mannered, which is really refreshing in rock. A whirlwind of good humour and placidity.

Also, searching through his past posts...

Quote from: John PetrucciThank you so much for all of the birthday wishes and while I'm at it, for the great feedback on the new CD and the appreciation thread as well! You guys make me blush! :)
Quote from: John PetrucciThanks so much for all of your warm birthday wishes today.
You guys are just too kind!!!

I almost don't want him to go too far onto the internet, now. I don't want him to see those horrible fans who like to go around hectoring musicians about what they're doing wrong with their careers. I'd rather shelter him. Like a puppy.

So i guess this means JP forums are going to be the new MP forums.

Well...do JR, JLB and/or JMX have forums anywhere?

-Marc.
JLB and JR do. They both post on their own boards, too.

I can't register on JP's board.  :(

Great post by JP, but my emotions are still a bit mixed.  His post is reassuring to the fans about the situation and at the same time, it further cements the fact of MP's departure.  It makes me happy and sad.  :) :'(

That is a bit strange.

Maybe there's too many people trying to register at once.

M-boogie

Why would JP not want us on his forum? :'(

Nathan Explosion

JP has answered a few questions forum members had.

No, not yet. This all went down yesterday.

Shocking.
No one ever anticipated Mike leaving.
I love him and personally think it's a mistake but he's his own man.

Not at all.

Probably due to the same kinds of things the mods here have had to deal with over the last 24 hours.  Not surprising at all, really.

Nice of him to answer some questions so soon.  JP is awesome.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I'm shocked about the fact that the rest of the guys didn't know. I thought they had seen it coming (Judging by fights within the band, etcetera) but I guess they were as informed about his departure as we were. Man this is starting to be not only depressing, but rare.

PD. JP is awesome.
