The almost 20 minute Beyond this Life jam... what do you think of it? i personally think its a tad long... and boring. Could have been so much better if it were under 15 minutes. What do you guys think?

I love it. Whenever I want to show someone how DT freestlyes I show them that song.

I enjoy the heck out of it.  I prefer watching it on the dvd to listening to it off the cd though.

I don't mind watching it... but when just listening to it, it loses it's luster real quick like

Adami

I have 0 desire to ever see/hear it again.

That said, if it happens to come on, I'll probably enjoy it.

I'm going with the majority here. I thought it was really cool.

BRGM

First time I was like
YEAAAAH!

then after that I was like..."OH it never ends"

And now that I've started to turn into a better person I feel "YEAAAH!" 'bout it again! It's pretty fraking awesome actually, Petruci is doing some sweet guitar work on it. not to mention JR and MPs little duel kinda thing.

Ben_Jamin

Its alright. It loses interest when the guitars stop

wolfking

Meh, it's good but I skip the second half of it.

Darkes7

Kevin Moore.

That is, it's a lot of fun but nothing I'd really want to listen to separately (unlike many other live performances that stand out, e.g. Lines In The Sand from CIM). I like it a lot when watching the whole DVD but that's it.

Mladen

It's one of the highlights on the DVD. Just astonishing.

SlickSy

I absolutely love this. The extended jam section in the middle blows me away everytime this. :hefdaddy

ZOMG IT'S AWESOME!! But then, so is Kevin Moore. But, which is more awesome?

There's only one way to find out...FIGHT!!!  ;D

ShadowWalker

The "Beyond This Life" performance on the ToT tour was one of the tour's highlights, if you ask me. It is one of the reasons why I listen to more boots from that tour compared to any other DT has done. I absolutely love it...

atmyne

If this is the one where Jordan and Portnoy do that little diddy in the jam section, then yes it's amazing.

MykeHavoc

Can we ban Kevin Moore from polls that he is irrelevant to? It's not even funny anymore.

John94

Without doubting their musical skill, I think its too long and completely unnecessary. If I listen to it, I skip it when the 'jam' starts.

To be brutally honest. It is probably one of the most boring instrumental breaks I have heard. Gimme an extended ITNOG outro any day.

Vahvahenki

I'm really fond of the extended jam, it's nice to go from the 'normal' jam to an improvisation that only features drums and keyboards and get back into the original song.

juice

There's no "pretty good" option so i just chose the awesome option.

This.

Oh, and it's the best part of the show.  I'd kill to be at a show where they did that.

I saw them in SF, so we got that and the Mother, Father cover.  Worst part is, that show was taped...AND THE TAPE GOT LOST!  >:(

Actually, I don't know if that's technically the "worst" part.  It's probably tied with the fact that I'm pretty sure we were supposed to get ACOS as an encore, but the show started about 25 minutes late due to technical difficulties, so we didn't.  >:(

Cool Chris

I think it's pretty cool. It's much better than the latter half of the extended jam section on the studio recording (the section they said was inspired by Zappa on the Live Scenes DVD).
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

yeshaberto

just came up tonight on my playlist...wow, the jams are perfect

I'm not a fan of BTL but when i watch L@B i ALWAYS have to see it :D

It's pretty cool.  It's fun to watch/listen to.  However, it's not what I reach for if I just want to listen to Beyond This Life.  But if I'm watching the DVD or listening to the CD, I never skip it.  It's fun.
