So looking at the complete setlist for the Paris show from June 25th, 1998, there were 8 songs missing from the live album that was released as Once In A LIVEtime. Since then, we've been treated to 4 live releases with accompanying 3-Disc sets - Live Scenes From New York, Live At Budokan, SCORE, and Chaos In Motion.

Unfortunately, of the 8 songs that were cut, a few them have been released on any subsequent live release: "The Way It Used To Be", "Anna Lee", "Speak To Me", and "Cover My Eyes", which are, IMO, some really great songs.

The poll here is pretty simple... if DT decided to re-release OIALT as a 3-disc set, would you get it?

*- Unreleased Track

The above track list is a homemade mix I made using the 23 tracks from the official release, and various other tracks from "The Lost Paris Tapes" bootleg and the OIALT Outtakes DTIFC. It's a complete show, with proper cross-fades between songs with audience noise, and runs pretty smoothly, except the obvious drops/rises in audio quality between some tracks, but it offers a glimpse into what a complete 3-disc set of this show would be like.

On this mix, the complete third disc was actually released on the regular released version and make up all but one song of the 2nd disc of the 2-Disc version - the 8 unreleased tracks land on the first two discs.

Orbert

Would buy.  I'm a completist and also a sucker for DT.  Also, I still like the album anyway.

Lynxo

Would buy. But then again, I buy everything they release that I can get my hands on.

SnakeEyes

No, simply for the fact that James sounds so bad on it.  [not his fault, I know, but I still wouldn't buy it]

This. It's not likely that I would listen to it. I NEVER listen to OIALT.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Telling "he sounds bad" is not fair, I think. He is pretty good on the second disc, especially.

bosk1

What isn't "fair" about it?  James himself has said that he really struggled.  It's no secret that it was not a good performance for him at all.  Yes, there were some songs where he sounded fine, and even some where he sounded pretty good.  But as a whole, it was not a good show for him.  There were lots of bad misses and points where he really struggled badly.  There's nothing wrong with saying so.  Everybody has bad shows, and given what James was going through at the time, it's pretty understandable that he had a very inconsistent tour.

FinkPloyd

Yeah I know this is not secret but I pointed this show isn't bad at all considering James condition. I enjoy it.

KISS 76

Yes i'd buy it. Great idea. I like the Derek era as it's something a little different to everything else. A little more poppy (?) & looser.

Wasn't OIALT a compilation of 2 shows? I don't have the CD with me but I thought it was recorded over 2 dates. Or maybe it was 1 show that went past midnight...

orcus116

Definitely buy it. Say what you will about the quality of the performances but none of their live DVDs/CDs have been able to match the energy and fun of OIALT.

I thought so, too.  I seem to remember that the acoustic set actually came from a different show.

Acoustic set? AFAIK, the whole show came from the June 25th Paris show... maybe you're thinking of the video, 5YIALT, which had snippets of the acoustic show from Rotterdam (IIRC).

No. OiaL is all strictly from 6/25/98 - what you're thinking of is the 98 Xmas CD, which combined 4(?) tracks from the 6/25/98 show along with a bunch from the 6/22/98 in Rotterdam, Holland.
