I recall MP saying there wouldn't be a DVD of any BC&SL show, from any leg of any tour on support of the album.

I think it is a crying shame that there wasn't a live DVD following Awake, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence or Black Clouds and Silver Linings, but the somewhat average (IMO) three-album run of Train of Thought, Octavarium and Systematic Chaos saw a live DVD follow each one of those.  Talk about a major disconnect! :p  :lol

Yeah...hopefully we'll get at least "The Count of Tuscany" in rotation for the next tour and maybe get it on a DVD.  And I'm 99.9% confident they'll play the whole 12 step suite live next tour and that will DEFINITELY show up on a DVD.

Look, the bottom line is that for the people who like it, it's good, and for the people who don't, it's not.
Holy obvious conclusion, Batman!!! ;)

Wasn't there a 9 or so part 6 Degrees thing or was that just in the studio making the album?

I'm pretty sure that's just the making of the album.

Considering I think it is one of their two or three worst songs ever, I would say yes.

YES.  They need to start playing DON'T LOOK PAST ME.

A song that is obscure and has never been played before, yeah that has a shot in hell at being played...

BRGM

don't even knows what it sounds like, but since it's a prejordan song...   |-O

LKap13

BRGM, are you not a fan of Awake and I&W? (I don't mean this in a condescending way, I'm just curious)

BRGM

I am not, only like Silent man, The mirror, Metropolis instrumental section, wait for sleep, the rest is just <yaaaaawn>

setrataeso

Wow, that's certainly a change of pace from the general opinion around here...

Great live song that I haven't seen in concert yet, so no.

Pretty much yeah, love all their stuff since like, Jordan joined. Octavarium was the first album I heard of'em and that's what I fell for, so...

Perpetual Change

I've noticed that a lot of the more casual DT fans seem to vastly prefer the Jordan era stuff, too. Just a weird thing I've noticed. The couple DT fans I know in rl who don't post at forums and got into the band less than 3, 4 years ago don't seem to care much about those early 90s albums.

BRGM

I've tried to like'em, hehe ^^ but it's just that, they never click for me. I guess the songs are too complicated for me

walmartsecurity

I don't think so. It is one of their most energetic, crowd-pleasing live songs. I WOULD like to see it played less though. Maybe throw it on the setlist every 2 or 3 shows, and put a good earlier DT song in it's place when it isn't being played. CM still has a place being played live, just not as much, IMO.

I'm not sure if the fans are any more "casual", but certainly fans who have got into the band more recently are more likely to prefer the newer stuff. Which is surely to be expected? While DT's core approach to music hasn't changed much over the years, their sound has stayed current (something they've always tried to do from day 1) so their newer albums sound more modern. Makes perfect sense that some fans will prefer the newer stuff.

I don't know if it's a matter of them getting into Dream Theater more recently, I think it's more likely how they're getting into Dream Theater. I've been a fan for over four years now, which is still pretty new, but when I did get into them it was through Awake, and then later, Images and Words. The fans who favour their newer material are more likely just fans who were introduced to Dream Theater through their newer material.

ariich

Yeah, as you'd expect most new fans to be I think. Especially with all the exposure that RR are getting the band.
