No.  I'm pretty hairy.  People just assume I like wearing black sweaters.

bosk1 - lol. Yeah, it was a complete shock.

All - sorry, $35 IS a lot. It's a ton of money. Most working people can't afford that sort of price, particularly with families. Those that do usually charge it, and that's how people get into debt. Not this man, and not my family.

I guess I'll stick to Hot Topic for my music-related shirts.

With all due respect, I don't think people putting concert t-shirts on charge is how they got into debt...

With all due respect to you, it is absolutely a reason. Not the only reason, obviously, but a reason. I go to about 10 shows a year. I watch every single time, some morons who literally buy every single shirt available plus more...and pull out the plastic to do it. I have friends that work for bands, that have told me that merch on websites is another killer. There are a LOT of people out there that buy EVERY SINGLE THING available.

Like I said, obviously, it isn't a major reason, but it is people like that, who most likely cannot afford to do things like that, but do it anyway, that I am talking about.

Just for the record, the band does NOT set the prices of the merch - the merchandising company does. In this case, it's LiveNation, who currently have a monopoly on selling concert tickets and certainly do a high percentage of the merchandising for big, popular bands out there. I remember speaking with MP one time about the pricing of merch, and he said it's out of his hands. Yeah, MP could insist that they not do buisness with LiveNation, but I'm sure contracts are signed, and the band's manager made the deal that he thought was best in the band's interests. So blame the band if you want, but really, the price of the merch is because of the merch company.

Ah, ok. in DREAM THEATER's case, I guess that's so. But many other bands that do their own merch DO set those prices.

I stand corrected on DT, however. It's still ridiculous though.

Nick

Frankly the bands can't be blamed at all for any of that though. It's the fault of the people buying all of it when they can't afford it.

And we're discussing purchasing one shirt, not 10.

THE MARKET WILL BEAR OUT THE CORRECT PRICE

Nick

The market wants John Petrucci to set DT's merch price?

Well, you're still correct about the price being too high.  So you can still blame all you want to.  You just have to adjust the trajectory on your finger so it points at the correct guilty party.  :lol  Once again, it isn't the artist that is screwing over the fans; it is one of the big industry conglomerates.  In the '80s and '90s, it was the record labels.  In the last decade, it's the ticket sellers and related entities that have taken control of the touring aspect.  If there's a way to mass produce sticking it to the fans, these companies will find it.  Sad.

MetalManiac666

Holy shite, I'll definitely be getting one of the posters.

lateralus88

I gave in to the expensive shipping and ordered one with some of my graduation money. Can't wait for this to arrive.

The Letter M

I, too, gave in and bought the poster... it just looks so damn good!!! Still waiting to see if a desktop background can be/will be made... :metal

Guys! You forgot to mention the new wristband!!

I'm gunna order it although the Majesty looks slightly chunky. Can go in tandem with the red one!

Birch Boy

Sorry if it's already been asked, but will the shirt and poster eventually not be sold anymore? In other words, if I don't have the money to get a shirt or poster for a few months, will they still be available, or are they "limited edition" and once they're gone they're gone?

ich bin besser

How do they send the poster? Folded or in a tube??

I hope it's in a tube!!!

-Marc.

Yeah... Folded would be a crime. If I spend so much money for a poster to get it to Germany, I expect a tube.
So people who already got it: please report.

lateralus88

I'll be sure to let you know when it arrives. It should be here late this week, I'd assume.

According to my order tracking, my estimated arrival is the 26th, so either this Saturday or Monday! I'm pretty excited about getting this poster!

Nick

I got my shirt two days or so ago, it's awesome.

Still no poster.

ZBomber

Yeah,I ordered a bunch of stuff from livenation at the same time... got other band posters but still not the DT one (although I think I got an email saying it shipped a few days ago)

Nick

Yeah, apparently my poster actually shipped today.

Yeah, I just got the same email.  :D

According to tracking info, I should be getting my poster next Tuesday. :metal

Also, maybe I just read the posts wrong, but I thought the shirts weren't going to be sold at the Maiden/DT shows? I saw them all over the vendor stands last night.

No, the posters were not going to be available at the Maiden shows (altho I've read at least one report that seems to contradict this). However, the shirts will be available at all the shows (both Maiden and club shows).
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Oh, so just the Maiden shows with DT? Okay, that makes more sense.

ZBomber

 I haven't been notified that mine is back on backorder yet, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The Letter M

The email I received 6 days ago had a FedEx tracker link in it, and it says it arrived at my local post office yesterday, so I REALLY hope I get it today because I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and I don't want the poster just sitting outside my house all day and night...

-Marc.

The Letter M

Wow... wishes CAN come true!!! Guess what just came in! And yes, it came in a tube, a rather big one, so if you don't have a large or long mailbox or use the post office, you should probably be home when the mailman/lady comes by to your house.

The poster comes covered over with a brown sheet of paper, I guess to protect the artwork side of it from rubbing along the back of it as it's rolled up. I almost wanna buy a (possibly cheap) frame to put it in instead of just taping it to my wall...

-Marc.

ZBomber

LiveNation does a great job packaging their posters. I got a couple from them the other day, but sadly the DT one was not one of them.

And I'd definitely recommend getting it framed. You can find cheap frames at Walmart for like 10 dollars. They are really basic, but they keep the poster protected and look better than just being taped up. :) That's what I'm doing atleast... I'm turning my current bedroom into my entertainment and music room, and I'm gonna decorate the walls with music memorabilia, including this poster. :D

ich bin besser

Okay, poster ordered - despite the shipping costs (10 bucks for the poster, almost 17 bucks for shipping).

SystematicThought

For those who got the shirts, a guy on MP's forum said his medium looked more like and XL, are they indeed running a little bit bigger.

As a few may know, especially Scotty, I have trouble with their shirts sizes. Any info on the fitting is appreciated
