I'm driving from Chillicothe, so only a 40 minute drive up US23N for me. I saw TDWP and MMI at The Basement on Monday and had the chance to go up to the Newport beforehand to check out where the parking garages are. I'm planning on leaving around 5 and being up at the Newport around 6:15 or 6:30.

EDIT: I thought I'd share my opinion on what the setlist tonight might look like. This is my educated guess:

---Intro---
A Nightmare To Remember
A Rite of Passage
Hollow Years (extended)
The Mirror
Lie
Home
The Dance of Eternity
One Last Time
As I Am
Pull Me Under/Metropolis
----Encore----
The Count of Tuscany

Beatallica is playing their last few songs right now. Mike Portnoy came out and played a song on drums with these guys. They have a pretty good sound and I like them.
I managed to post this using my Droid, but Ill post the setlist.

Setlist:
A Nightmare To Remember
Constant Motion
Hollow Years (extended)
The Mirror
Lie
(James' Speech where he walked into his mic which smacked him in the face) lol
A Rite of Passage
Home (without intro)
Panic Attack
As I Am
Pull Me Under/Metropolis, Pt.1
-------------------
The Count of Tuscany

Nathan Explosion

Overall a great concert, really makes me look forward to their next album, and I hope they come back.

I was so surprised when Kevin Moore took to the stage and the band broke into Space Dye Vest.   ::)

ddtonfire

Space-Dye Vest was awesome!

What else can I say but what a great show!!!!! It was cool they did the demo version of Hollow Years mixed with the Budokan version. The Metropolis jam was great entertainment and The Count of Tuscany is the best encore song ever!

ResultsMayVary

The pause in the instrumental section of Metropolis was rediculous this time. I recorded the jam with my phone and it ran 54 seconds on the pause. I was able to see Petrucci tuning during the pause.
Also, did anyone else notice LaBrie walking into his mic stand during his speech? It happened when Portnoy asked who was at the Newport show 17 years ago. I know a lot of people in the first few rows were laughing their asses off.

Plasmastrike

Phenomenal!

I stood by the lighting guy, and he gave me the setlist. I then went behind the building post-gig and got the setlist signed by JP and got a photo with him.

I'm FINALLY one of those people that got to meet a band member. Woot

GOOD NIGHT ALL! <3

The lighting guy was RIDICULOUS. I've never seen a crew man get so into his work, it was like he was the 6th member!

TAC

The setlist for the first 2 headline shows was the same. I'm figuring it won't change for the next 2.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

Oh for the love of all that is good and holy please let someone have caught this on video.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

Is there someone who can report (when during the set, if and how it was eventually introduced etc) the Space dye-vest Kevin Moore thing. 'Cause it seems like no one cares.

pianoman

I was there, third "row" from the front. Best show I've ever seen. Anyways, yeah... JLB came on after hollow years, told the audience that we'd be making Dream Theater history tonight, and he told us that one of their former bandmates had graciously agreed to come play a few numbers with them. He played The mirror, which ran into Space Dye Vest, which ran into Lie. It was an amazing transition that I think nobody expected. I think another reason it happened was because Jordan was sick. It'll probably be a one time thing though. Don't expect KM to make another DT appearance. Best night of my life!

Can't wait for the bootlegs of SDV to surface, I hope somebody recorded the show.

Yeah, it happened never.

Crap!! I was hoping for Erotomania/Voices; The Dance of Eternity/One Last Time; or In the Name of God.

The show was just killer. Great energy, a great crowd, and the band looked as if they were having a lot fun. The chances of seeing the band in a small club setting like that again will be slim, I think. It was really a great experience and the crowd was pumped up for the whole evening. Just about everyone got their nut off. We got in line a little before 6pm and there had to be at least 200 people in front of us. I had never been to the Newport before and was surprised that when we got inside, we might have been 7 people deep from the stage. We just couldn't believe how close we were. Just an awesome night.

Also, at the end of the show, I looked down after the lights came on and saw one of Kliff's Beatallica pics on the floor. :)

Oh, come on... I was just provocative...

DreamerTV

Ok, so it never happened... Thanks for kidding...

They went on at 9:09 and finished at 11:26. I might be a few minutes off on the ending but i'm definitely sure that is when they started.

I should probably post this

Did you wait for him after the concert? When we exited, we exited through the fire escape on the second floor and it took us right out by the bus. We considered waiting around for a bit, but we were all too tired and had ~130 miles to drive home.

Plasmastrike

Yeah, we were in the direct backside of the venue, near the buses.

We just waited around for about 30 minutes. I just bullshitted with other DT fans to kill time (one guy was at the Score recording :lol).

This show was insane.  I've never heard a better crowd.  I was left balcony on the railing close to the stage.  Next to my front row experience, this was my favorite DT concert.  The guys seemed to have a lot of fun.  I also really enjoyed the venue.  I'd rather see DT there again than in Cleveland.

This is a joke. I was there and never saw Kevin Moore take the stage. Don't know why this was being said.
