So, my wife is now undecided on whether she wants to attend.

I have a ticket I paid $45 for, that I'd be willing to sell for $35 if anyone doesn't have one yet . . . PM me if interested.

Cell phones allowed?
yes

Thanks for the response! I was there in '04 but didn't have a cell phone then, and couldn't remember.

As far as tix sales went, I ordered mine around 2PM on Friday and I got 1108 and 1109.

axeman90210

we might have to call Armsby Abbey ahead of time, it looks like with guests we're at almost 25 people and this place isn't that big :lol

Serpentor

I'm tellin ya, Irish Times, right across the street.....

axeman90210

this place is about two blocks away and I'd be very willing to wager has a much better tap list, although with the size of the prospective group we may have to switch to Irish Times or have two different meetups or something

2 meetups? C'mon, there has to be a bar big enough to house 25 people? Just pick one that is big enough.

There really isn't any place to tailgate. The palladium is in downtown worcester. There are tiny little parking lots and street parking, but not really any place to hold a gathering.

axeman90210

from what I saw definitely no place to tailgate. I'll probably end up hitting Armsby Abbey for a while first, and then moving on to Irish Times, and then having the official meetup there. I just can't pass up stopping at a place like Armsby Abbey for a beer or two, they always have a phenomenal tap list

I'll PM you when I get back from vacation. We'll have to hook up at the show. I won't be up early enough for a meet up.

I've never been to the Palladium. How is it set up? I hear it holds 2000. That's a lot. Is it set up like The Strand was in Providence, or maybe The Roxy in Boston?

It's been a ltime since I went so I cant remember the set up.  I hope it's not like the Roxy in Boston TAC cause it had the raised dance floor in the front of the floor which made it imposible to see from the back.  Though, that place is made more for dancing than a rock show.

MykeHavoc

Tix came in the mail today.

The Palladium is a Theater. You have your stage, then your GA floor. On either side, there are two sets of stairs and beneath these are the VIP entrance. Moving back, you have a series of slightly elevated levels with seating areas and a bar as well as the merch area. In the main hallway, you have side entrances to the balcony, which has fold out seats. There is a slightly lower level with bathrooms and food behind the bar. Above that is the second (smaller) stage and house bar. Musicians will often hang here and talk to fans. This is right near the front entrance and box office. Outside, along the side of the venue is where the vans will park and is usually the place to be to  autographs and such after the gig. Every show I've ever been to here (which is a shit ton) the musicians come and hang for pics and all that in this area for those that didn't have a VIP package or get on anyone's guest list.
That's the best lament layout I can give anyone. I can't really compare it to any other venue that I've been to. It's fairly unique in that sense. But it is THE venue in New England to see a fair sized gig yet still have that intimate feel. I've seen all my favorite artists here and have never been let down. It just sucks that its in Worcester, the asshole of Massachusetts :P

TAC

Thanks Myke, sounds a lot like The Strand in Providence, which is where all of these type of tours used to hit in the 90's. They now all go to The Palladium.

And the sound quality is usually pretty good.  I didn't need earplugs when I saw Opeth there

Dream Team

I still have a ticket I'll sell for $35 if anyone needs one.

Chino

At these off shows, does DT play some of their fun stuff? TTY/Freebird for example.

The Letter M

#103
The last time DT played there was this:
Train of Thought - Summer 2004 American Tour
8/21/2004  Worcester, MA
Venue:  The Palladium
Other Act(s):  Blinded By Noon opened
Set List:
1.  Metropolis part 1
2.  This Dying Soul
3.  Peruvian Skies
4.  War Inside My Head
5.  The Test That Stumped Them All
6.  A Fortune in Lies
7.  Endless Sacrifice
8.  improv jam
9.  Through My Words
10.  Fatal Tragedy
11.  Pull Me Under (warped version)
12.  Stream of Consciousness
13.  The Spirit Carries On
14.  Solitary Shell
15.  About to Crash (reprise)
16.  Losing Time/Grand Finale
~~~encore~~~
17.  In the Name of God
Sadly to say, they probably won't play "In The Name Of God", "Solitary Shell", "Pull Me Under", "Peruvian Skies", or possibly "Metropolis" this go around, but that still leaves a LOT of songs from the current rotation that they could play, which will most definitely include the four tunes from BC&SL they've played so far.
-Marc.
TAC
That was one of the BEST setlists they've ever played. I wouldn't be surprised to see Metropolis though. It on the current tour master list. Although it was played as part of a medley in '08.
