SDR is by far my least favorite Extreme album. I have a lot of problems with it, production, sounding more like Dramagods (Even though I love the DG album) than Extreme, and just tons of filler. It really disappointed me, I hope their next album is better.

Pornograffiti, III Sides, and WFTP on the other hand, kick seriously ass. Each album is better than the last. (That's right, I think WFTP is the best album, I absolutely love it)

I get where you're coming from, but that wasn't how I took their attitude at all.  And I get where they're coming from in having a "must play" song that really does not reflect at all what they are about as a band.  It's not like they didn't want to play it because they're tired of it--it's just that it doesn't really reflect who they are.  It was a branching out, and was meant to be sort of an anomaly, showing that they are into really different diverse styles.  But that anomaly is what took off and ended up defining their image more than the songs that better reflect what they are about, so I can see a bit of reluctance.

Reminds me of the Joe Walsh quote "If I'd known I'd have to play this song for the rst of my life, I'd have written something else".

Good video, and it was a fun tour as well.  Now get King's X, Live In London, and watch them back to back for the full effect of that tour.

So, what do people think of the self-titled album? It might just be nostalgia goggles talking since it was one of the earlier metal albums I had heard, but most of the album still manages to impress me. Nuno's solo tacked onto the beginning of Mutha (Don't Wanna Go to School Today) blew my fucking mind when I was just picking up guitar, and it's still amazing. Sure, most of the album has that cheesy 80s vibe, but it fits everything so perfectly.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Extreme - Amazing
Extreme II - Ridiculous
Extreme III - Intense
Extreme IV - Raw
Extreme V - Solid

Take Us Alive - WOW!

If there's one guitarist in the history of the world that I'd be afraid to battle against it's Nuno.  He has more chops and styles and versatility than anyone I can think of.  He can pull out anything from his ass and destroy you with it... even on vox.

It's an absolute thrill to see their live show also but they've never been in my area, even in their heyday cuz Vancouver sucks, so I'm stuck with Youtube and home video.

Watched M3 on TV last night, and was underwhelmed by the quality of most of the live performances.  Sloppy, off key, etc.  A few good performances, but was left feeling "meh".
Then after that show, there was a live performance from Boston of the recent Extreme DVD.  Never saw them live so I figured what the heck.

Wow.

Than band is TIGHT.  Killer vocals by all three.  Nuno is fucking insane.  Amazing performance.
Oh shit, you're right!

I caught that last night. kicked ass but they didn't show Rest in Peace, which is a bummer.

Midnight Express is a brilliant piece, by the way.

Yeah I own that DVD and they are so tight.  Great harmonies too boot.  Every time I have seen them in Boston they were great.

One of my friends went and saw Rihanna a few nights ago and she video'd some of Nuno's solos. I just kept saying jesus lol.

I'm hoping they'll come back to Australia - I had tix for a show last year and they pulled the pin at the last minute...........I did end up seeing Van Halen/Aerosmith that weekend in the end so it worked out well.   Not sure if there was low sales or Nuno got a RiRi call.

I sure love that Boston DVD  :hefdaddy

I'll be surprised if I get to any of the gigs but I hope at least one show gets recorded. Pornograffiti is a fantastic album (might even have been the first album of my own that I owned) and Nuno's playing on it is still jaw dropping.

I saw some Facebook posts Ralf and second guessed myself.

I recently hesitated on tickets to King's X and now that's sold out.

I saw them last month In Manchester UK. They were excellent. Nuno has some swagger and the crowd were really up for it.

I love K Fig as well. maybe not the most amazing technical drummer but he really has some groove. Perfect for Extreme really.

Hope they get a new album out soon. I wanna hear some N7 riffage!

This is brilliant: Jimmy Fallon & Jack Black Recreate "More Than Words"

Clearly not Fallon playing :P

But things like that remind me of something that was mentioned on the "Airplane!" commentary track. During the "long pan across the interminable flight deck" shot..

Whoever it was speaking said " At which point is this supposed to get a laugh ? When's the cut off point ? "

It's like - ok you're doing a parody of a band - is the entire song really necessary ? After a verse and chorus you've got the gist.

You always used to get this on comedy shows in England. They'd do a parody of a band and they'd look vaguely like them and sound vaguely like them and

all the lyrics were changed to be stupid. After a minute you're like " oh haha it's x band . I get it. " By the end of the 4 min sketch you just want it to end.

JB is a good singer though. It's a shame he's pretty much the exact same character in everything he does.

Reviving an ancient thread. I was just looking at the official band site, and man, the current layout just screams "abandoned".
I guess there hasn't been any news on a new album either, right?

I can't believe they went through all that trouble to recreate the video like that.  Amazing.

I'd love to see Nuno on a G3 tour.  I wonder if he's ever been asked.

I saw them on the "Pornograffiti in it's entirety show" and it was amazing.

Though same problems with Gary;  not his voice, but his mike.  First half of "Decadence Dance" was almost instrumental because you could barely hear him.   It got better as the show went on, but the mix was generally poor throughout.  A shame, because he delivers live with no help and no tapes.

What a great band.
