Steve Jobs Died at Home of Respiratory Arrest
By Karen Gullo - Oct 10, 2011 5:03 PM GMT-0500

Steve Jobs died at home in Palo Alto, California, of respiratory arrest caused by a pancreatic tumor at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 5, according to his death certificate. His occupation was listed as “entrepreneur” in the “high tech” business.

The Santa Clara County Public Health Department in San Jose, California, issued the document today, listing respiratory arrest as the immediate cause of death, with “metastatic pancreas neuroendocrine tumor” as the underlying cause. There was no autopsy performed.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) announced Oct. 5 that Jobs, 56, died without providing any details about the time and place. The iconic chief executive officer of the iPhone maker resigned his position Aug. 24. He had been diagnosed in 2003 with a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of pancreatic cancer, and underwent a liver transplant in 2009.

Jobs was buried at a non-denominational cemetery in Santa Clara County on Oct. 7. The name of the person who filled out the certificate was blacked out. [more in the link above]

So today Apple will be unveiling its new apparatus/iTablet/iPhone that it will not surprise me. Anyone else will follow this news?

Frantic Steve Jobs Stays Up All Night Designing Apple Tablet

January 27, 2010 | Issue 46•04

CUPERTINO, CA—Claiming that he completely forgot about the much-hyped electronic device until the last minute, a frantic Steve Jobs reportedly stayed up all night Tuesday in a desperate effort to design Apple's new tablet computer. "Come on, Steve, just think—think, dammit—you're running out of time," the exhausted CEO said as he glued nine separate iPhones to the back of a plastic cafeteria tray. "Okay, yeah, this will work. This will definitely work. Just need to write 'tablet' on this little strip of masking tape here and I'm golden. Oh, come on, you piece of shit! Just stick already!" Middle-of-the-night sources reported that Jobs then began work on double-spacing his Keynote presentation and increasing the font size to make it appear longer.

Actually, despite my dislike for Apple, I'm quite interested to see what it is.

I saw an article on CNN.com a few days ago about this one guy who will buy anything Apple puts out regardless of whether or not it's useful. He says he'll get at least one of these, whether or not he needs it

Oh, and he hopes it'll be between 500-1000 USD, which I :lol 'd pretty hard at

So it starts in half an hour. I guess I'll tune in to engadget or something.

I don't think I'll want it, but I kind of want to know what it will be.

Looks like shit, and the name is lolworthy.

Take the iPhone, make it 5 times bigger, and there you have it. The iTampon.

edit: and the bezel on that thing is huge. If it was much thinner I would probably like the look of it more.

Jobs: iPad tablet will have a nearly full-size touch-screen keyboard. "It's a dream to type on," he says.

Hmm. So far I don't see more than regular tablet PC that happens to run Apple's OS.

IMHO, the real issue that needs to be solved is the fact that, to make a portable browser/computer, they need to somehow make the display foldable/shrinkable etc. so that you can still carry it around easily, and bring it to big size when needed. I mean, how are you gonna carry that monster around with you? And if you happen to have a bag that size, why not just get a regular laptop with a big screen?
And yeah, tactile response FTW.

Yeah, I can't imagine trying to type something of any considerable length on a touch screen.

And apparently all the iPhone apps are usable on it. The downside? They're still in iPhone resolution. To make them fullscreen it has to pixel-double. Which means you either have this silly little app in the center of the tablet, or a big blurry one.

Can you imagine heated arguments taking place over that thing? The guy's holding it in front of him, and the girl's face is in the viewscreen like a webcam. All the sudden he yells "DON'T TALK TO ME THAT WAY YOU WHORE!!!" and shakes the tablet around wildly like a little kid. And then, he hurls it across the room like a discuss. That's when you walk in the door and miraculously catch it. You look into the screen, she looks through her screen at you, and instant love is born. Hopefully the first guy will let you leave with his iPad. Just tell him it would have been broken anyway if you didn't catch it.

I don't think so, or it hasn't been announced.

The game developed for it looks kind of snazzy. I'll give it that.

Any guesses on when either Jobs or other people will say Apple keeps revolutionizing the industry even though tablets have been out for years?

Are you saying that Apple wasn't being revolutionary when they combined an iPod, a phone, and an "Internet communications device" and thus creating the iPhone? :omg: :omg:

Well, like it or not, but the iPhone has completely dominated the smartphone market for years. And most other phones simply copy what Apple has done.

In fairness, Apple's strength isn't coming up with new technology. It's taking already-existing technology and figuring out how to make it digestible for the general public. Apple shouldn't be insulted for that, because it's a legitimate skill. What I don't like is when Steve Jobs presents something like this or the Macbook Air, everyone knows it's stupid, and the tech dorks act like it's revolutionary just because Apple made it.

Like Rumborak said before me. The iPhone is huge. Everyone knew it was going to be huge, even if it's not actually that great. The iPad on the other hand is going to be irrelevant.

Apple is also the only computer company who understands the value of a good user interface. Remember the shit interface MP3 players had before the iPod came out? You had the impression some computer geeks had soldered together the whole thing, and then slapped a GUI on it with the paradigm "If I can use it, everybody can".

I had one of the pre-iPod mp3 players, and I know what you mean. I could learn it because I'm a computer nerd, but I dunno how other people would have handled it.

What Apple also deserves credit for it simplifying tasks that theoretically could be complicated. Have you ever tried connecting a Windows computer to the internet? There is no nightmare more horrible. Connecting an Apple computer to the internet on the other hand is a very simple process. I think Apple's love of proprietary components is lame, but they make completely sure those components work together perfectly.

All in all, computers used to be mainly for people wanted to use them and learned how to do so. It wasn't easy, but it was nice to have so much control over all the little things you did. Remember when spending a lot of time on a computer made you a nerd? Well, now everyone is using computers, so it's easier to give them simplified interfaces than for them to explore and customize.

The sad thing is, someone already did an apple tablet, and it was better than what apple did.

https://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook

In any case, the only thing I can see this working as is as a netbook alternative. It could work really well as one, but I reckon the could have done with making it a bit smaller.
