Black Country

[admins: DT related content here but please move to anotehr subforum if the content isn't enough!]

I've had a quick scan of the forum and haven't seen this mentioned yet...

The cat is out the bag! This is BLACK COUNTRY. Jason Bonham on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals and Joe Bonamassa on guitar and vocals. The songs are all original and they are all the very best players in the world!
Jason (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) - a totally unique drummer and what a powerhouse, yet oh-so-tasty. Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper) - super versatile, playing mostly overdriven Hammond in this ensemble. Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze) - bass and vocals and Joe Bonamassa is the best Blues guitarist around, adds his signature vocals. We're planning to get this out late summer!

I'd heard this mentioned yesterday, but it only talked about GH and the two JBs - now Derek Sherinian is being talked of too!

I'm REALLY looking forward to this...

Yeah, this isn't really DT related.

Sounds cool, except I have no idea who Joe Bonamassa is, and being guitars and vocals, that's one of the most important guys to know. The rest implies this would be pretty rockin' though.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Someone move it then please - I thought the Derek Sherinian reference was enough but maybe not.

Joe Bonamassa BTW is considered one of the hottest blues guitarists around at the moment. Well worth checking out if you like Jeff Healey/Johnny Lang type stuff. Great singing voice too (though when he talks he sounds like Kermit)  :D

Areas around Birmingham/Wolverhampton in the UK are collectively known as "the black country". I believe Glenn Hughes is originally from this area. So was John Bonham so Jason probably is too.

Might explain the name

Not to mention that it's reminiscent of the Zeppelin tune from Physical Graffiti.  I immediately thought of that song when I saw this, which I'm sure is the intent behind the bandname.

Man that sounds pretty cool. I love Derek, so I hope these guys put out some good stuff.

Saw thread title and thought this was to be about a marriage between country and black metal.

Not disappointed by the actual contents, though.
