I've spent my entire weekend drinking in my backyard and listening to early 90s techno. It's been the best weekend I've had in a month.

Any specifics?

I'm looking to expand my electronic collection. (specifically early 90's era)

Check out Dimension Intrusion by FUSE and Point Blank by Robert Hood. Both 2nd wave Detroit techno producers, both awesome.

My techno pandora station has been a massive source of awesome as well, if you'd like more possible leads https://www.pandora.com/station/play/1166553211630916484

I hope I'm not the only one who had it on repeat for like hours last night. Get Lucky is actually amazing. I have extremely high hopes for RAM.

Get Lucky is awesome, and it has given me high hopes as well for RAM and I really do hope it is decent, because I was very let down by Human After All.

Yeahhh not their best album but i still tend to play Technologic a lot because its fund to sing along to. Other than that, a pretty bland album.

Saw The Knife yesterday, amazing show.

SPOILERS FOR ANYONE THAT IS GOING TO SEE IT:
You will only see The Knife for a good 15 mins, the rest is people dancing on stage to their songs. A lot of people were pissed off, which I can undersatnd but I had a great time nonetheless and I thought it was a great show. :)

That new album from The Knife is insanely good.  I didn't think I'd be all wrapped up in amazement at the more ambient pieces, but they were just as great to listen to as their more beat-heavy stuff.

BTW, also glad that Matthew Dear may be upping his profile now that he's opening for Depeche Mode on their European tour. So glad for the guy who's worked so hard to get to that point in his career.

I quite like Random Access Memories. Favourite tracks are Giorgio by Moroder, Lose Yourself to Dance and Doin' it Right.

Never really listened to much Daft Punk before and thought what I heard was kinda meh. After listening to RAM, I'm not won over at all. :P I like Doin' It Right (probably because I love Panda Bear) and the opener but that's about it.

RAM is really good. Much more diverse and ambitious than I expected from them.

Funny. My problem was I felt like I was hearing the same song repeatedly. Guess they're just not for me then, heh.

I don't get that honestly, each song felt very much like it's own entity, at least that's what I thought.
Really digging RAM by the by, just thought I'd throw that in.

I'm really enjoying Random Acess Memories and feel like its a vast improvement over Human after All. Its a sweet album, but incredibly different than anything they have ever down. It has a much more mature and subtle sound to it, and I'm really digging it.

I love "Doin' It Right"

On a whim I went to youtube to listen to "One More Time" only to find out Romanthony (the guy who sings) died today  :sadpanda:
In high school my buddies and I built a Van Der Graaf generator.  You know, to get girls.

So after maybe 5 listens so far of RAM, although I find it satisfying, I can't help feeling kind of underwhelmed at the same time. Its just a bit too laid back and has kind of a passive sound to it.

The only songs that make me physically start moving or make me feel compelled to move are Get Lucky and Doing it Right. That's it, for the rest of it, I feel like its an album to listen to before going to sleep or an album to unwind to, which is fine. Its just that what I've always liked about Daft Punk is that they are like the musical equivalent of a cup of coffee, they get me off my ass and motivated. RAM chills me out like an Ambien.

Another thing I will say is that the album is way too long. At 74 minutes, it loses focus about have way through. Because of that, I had to trim off a few songs to get this thing more manageable, so I removed Giorgio by morodor, within, and Fragments of time.

But regardless, its still a million times better than human after all and I am happy to have it be a part of my collection.

Really loving the new album 'Immunity' by Jon Hopkins. He previously worked as a sound designer with Brian Eno on Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' album. His earlier solo stuff sounds a bit generic but beautiful, and on this new record he's really coming into his own as an electronic music artist. The album flows like one piece and there's even plenty of his piano skills on display throughout. I love this record.

Not sure this particular song actually qualifies as "electronic," but it's absolutely amazing. Can't wait for the new Goldfrapp record!
