I reckon the 2/10 people found Ulver through the black metal -era... or then they just don't like it. Either way I think the album is amazing.

What programs do you all use to make music?  I just started making electronic music a few weeks ago (I suck, needless to say), and my friend turned me on to Ableton Live.  Maybe I'll be able to share something when I get setup with some decent samples and plugins.

I've used Fruityloops a bit, no idea if it's the best though.

I used MusicMaker from Magix, but its more for the interface and some VST's. I've been working on my next album a bit and been using SOOOO many different VST's and stuff though. So as long as you find a good interface, you can get even better plug ins for it.

I recently acquired his Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP. I was listening to it while driving and at the drop my car transformed.

I'm not sure if I like any full-blown, 100% electronic music, but plenty of my favorite bands/artists incorporate a lot of electronic elements into their songs.

COUNT ME IN.

Well, I finally uploaded an original track (work in progress, as I've only been working on it for about 2 days).  Still a complete noob at both songwriting and the technology, but I'd love some feedback.  Most obvious flaws to me are crappy beats and some awkward transitions.

update: improved it a little.

:D :tup All 3 of her albums are really good, and any of them would be a fine starting point.

Boards of Canada will always be the best electronic band for me. Tangerine Dream is close though.

Personally I'd say Discovery. It has some of their most classic songs.

Just listened to Boards of Canada.  So good.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. G. Sertillanges
