Thanks! I was very lucky to get her to look straight at me long enough to get that shot. Usually she'll pay no attention to anyone unless it involves food.

This was a fun shoot. I call it "Cupcake in a Tree."

I laughed waaaay too hard at that
Now I did too. :lol

I really like this one. It's very confusing to look at, which I love - why are the ropes not in focus while the leaf is? It probably has to do with the ice looking out of focus because that's what ice looks like. It makes the picture quite special. Well done!

Well thanks! I was inspecting that shot after I first took it, and was kind of pissed that the ropes and some of the ice didn't look more focused, so I almost went back to just change that. But I realized it is kinda unique in a way, and I love how in focus the leaf is. Oh well, happy accident!

Hello DTF, I currently go to college for photography, so I though I'd share some of my work. Stylistically I've changed a lot since I began a few years ago, partly in my attempt to be "progressive".  I recently got a Canon EOS 60D but most images were shot with either a Rebel XTI or Fuji S100FS.

Here are some of my most popular and my own favorites.

If you're talking about the first image, it was a picture I took for a high school project with my speedometer in test mode.  My technique to make it keep entering test mode so that I could keep retaking the shot however made the fuel pump short out a few days latter....

This one is absolutely glorious. I haven't heard of infrared converted cameras - care to explain a bit to me? I'm curious.

I'm very interested in trying infrared photography at some point, I'm curious as to what goes  into the conversion process.

I think I'm going to be getting 2 new lenses soon for my D5000.  I'm going to get the nikon 35 mm f1.8 prime and the 55-200mm zoom, both dx style lenses.  They came highly recommended from Ken Rockwell.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

Well I've found that my non-converted Fujifilm camera is quite sensitive to Infrared but basically you send a popular digital camera in (or you can do it yourself) and they take out the infrared blocking filter over the sensor and replace it with either a clear filter (full spectrum = IR-UV-Color) or a IR filter (590nm = high color, 720nm = white foliage, blue sky) All cameras can take infrared pictures though if you have an infrared passing filter. The problem is that the exposures are quite long, sometimes several seconds to minutes.

Here's some more of my infrared shots.

This one is awesome! The motion and colours! Wow!

Also, some advice: Be sure you hold the camera straight. Slanting horizons aren't too nice... When I have a perfect picture overlooking the horizon, I often take a series of pictures, slowly tilting my camera to one side at the same time. That way you're almost guaranteed one good picture. It's hard to see if it's perfect on the display, so I just take a series of pictures and delete the bad ones when transferring them to the computer.

Thanks, and yea ever since I got my battery grip for this thing I've noticed I've been having more trouble determining if the camera is dead straight.

Thanks! funny thing is, I didn't even touch that picture with the red and blue! It was in a small jazz club here in St. Paul, and the lighting hit these two kids just perfectly!

I got 2 new lenses for my Nikon D5000.  I got a 35mm prime f1.8 and a 55-200mm f4-5.6 zoom lens.  I got to do a bunch of shooting with the 35mm and it looks great.  I can't really post the pics here though unfortunately as I was able to get a human subject to shoot and I don't think she'd like them on the internet.

But lemme tell you, they look great, really happy with the lenses.  Super crisp and really shallow depth of field when I want it.

Haven't been able to use the zoom that much yet.  Hopefully I can take some pictures soon and post them.
