I am not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but I liked this shot from my phone while on my recent weekend getaway with my wife.  This is Fort Fisher, North Carolina:

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Adorama has a 55-200mm F4.5/5.6 VR factory refurb lens for $90, where it is normally about $240.  I've also considered getting a 35mm or 50mm prime F/1.8 lens for low light indoor stuff.  Since the kit lens already includes 18-55, I wonder which lens would be more useful.

I post my stuff to 500px.  I try to be good, but there are so many great photographers on 500px that it almost makes me want to give up.

I also post to Flickr, just not as often

So, for my recent Japan + Western Canadian trip, I borrowed a Ricoh GR1V from a friend of mine, and used a roll of AGFA Color Plus ISO 200 film for the below shots. With virtually no touch ups done to any of them, I think they turned out quite pleasing... oh, by the way, the first shot was taken in Hong Kong.

Thought some of you camera guys would be interested in this.

I curious to hear your thoughts. I don't know how revolutionary this device will be, but in time, do you think it's possible that telescopic lenses will be completely phased out?

I want to do an arrangement of framed photos for my living room, something like these:

or

But goddamn, framing is expensive.  One layout I have is 7 8x12 prints and 3 12x18 prints.  Frame pricing seems to be based on area, so no matter how I arrange the size and quantity, it is over $500 for the wall I want to fill.  I've looked at almost every internet framing site, and their prices are all pretty much the same.

Also, i don't want to crop any photos which are all 3:2.  Off-the-shelf frames are all stupid 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, etc.  If you want 3:2 frames, they are all custom, even though this is default photo aspect ratio.

Glad I found this thread.... I'm an amature photographer taking photography more serious since a couple of years ago.

One of my favorite past-times is to take a walk in the night with my camera and my tripod shooting "blue hour" photos.
This year I added a fun bit of kit "a pixel stick", a long stick with hundreds of led lights that can be made to display an image "row by row", making photos like this possible:

Walking up Blecktornsgränd
by Martin Sandberg, on Flickr

Everywhere I go I try to bring my camera and tripod, even on vacations so that I can go out in the blue hour like here in Funchal about a year ago:

2015: 8/115 With Funchal at your back
by Martin Sandberg, on Flickr

I also love shooting photos on a theme so I follow a couple of groups on Flickr that have weekly themes or themes spread out over the year.
This one was shot a couple of years ago on the theme "Silence":

Silence by Martin Sandberg, on Flickr

Unfortunateley I haven't had too much time for photography this year, even struggled and failed to take one photo per week..... hope next year will be better.

Oh... another shot I took on a theme is the one I use for my avatar. It was on the theme "Album cover" which I used to try out a lighting technique I had thought about for a while.... I was going for a kind of cover feeling like it was from the 80ties

Here's a couple shots from our latest dive trip to Cozumel....

Fantastic dive shots.... love that turtle... and the one with the diver is really cool although a little space on the bottom would have made it even better

Mind if I ask what gear you use?
