I have two. sue me.

Quote
BAND NAME: Event Horizon (yes it's shit, deal with it)
BAND TYPE/GENRE: Progressive Power Metal with a strong classical influence. Neapolitan 6ths FTFW.
DTF MEMBERS INVOLVED: Just yours truly, unless the other dudes are in here without me knowing. I play bass and am in charge of lyrics, a friend of mine plays guitar and a genius friend of ours does just about everything else.
INSTRUMENTS: 6/7 string guitars, bass, piano, a drum machine, synthesizers and a bit of clarinet/french horn. We record in propellorhead Reason. Our vocals are VERY demo vocals.
WEBSITE(s): http://www.myspace.com/eventwhorizon - I know that place is a graveyard but it has some demos on it.

STATUS: Active in academic vacation time only as we're all on pretty intensive university courses. Songs are slowly getting done and we have about 35 mins of original music done now all with demo vocals and ranging from full on POWAH metal to classical piano driven ballads and even one song in sonata form. We're looking to add a permanent singer and a drummer that isn't a drum machine but it will be a case of us finding someone we know and trust who can do it as supposed to searching far and wide. Someday we will release these songs as an EP or a really really short album.

Quote
BAND NAME: Like Lightning
BAND TYPE/GENRE: Hard Rock with some odd times/rhythms.
DTF MEMBERS INVOLVED: Just me, again.
INSTRUMENTS: Two guitars, Bass, Drums, a lead vocalist and a harmonising vocalist.
WEBSITE(s): http://soundcloud.com/chrissalix - There's a tune and a link to the (very) demo quality EP there
STATUS: Inactive due to members being spread out across europe these days. It was fun while it lasted. I will make music with these guys again though and i'm proud of what we did.

BAND NAME: Sunday In The Rain
BAND TYPE/GENRE: Prog rock
DTF MEMBERS INVOLVED: Sketchy
INSTRUMENTS: At the moment bass, drums, keys, guitar, violin, accordion, guzheng, percussion (bongos, shaker, scraper, tambourine, grindy frog, djembe), pipa (only on about three things on the recording, but things will probably be adapted to have pipa live)
WEBSITE(s): N/A
STATUS: One song recorded, several more written, soon to be recorded hopefully... Currently working on rehearsing some of the simpler things for playing live (and for having pipa parts in).

BAND NAME:  1979
BAND TYPE/GENRE:  Whatever suits our fancy, but mostly '60s, '70s, and '80s rock.
DTF MEMBERS INVOLVED:  Just me.  The other members are not on DTF.  Well, technically, GuitarOrdinaire is a member here, but he only has 2 or 3 posts.
INSTRUMENTS:  Lead vocals.  Sometimes, drums.
WEBSITE(s):
STATUS:  Garage band.  We've played a couple of events in front of 100-300 people, and we host some open mic jam - type events a couple of times a year.  It's just for fun because we love music, and getting together to play is a great outlet.

BAND NAME: The ANABASIS

BAND TYPE/GENRE: Progressive Rock (studio only project)

DTF MEMBERS INVOLVED: Me possibly others, not sure if they post here or not

INSTRUMENTS: I play guitar, bass and some keys and write all of the music

WEBSITE(s): http://www.theanabasisproject.com

STATUS:  Signed to 10t Records (http://www.10trecords.com) Debut album now available worldwide.

Album Cover:

Promotional Spam:
The ANABASIS is a progressive rock collaborative studio project conceived by multi-instrumentalist and composer Barry Thompson of Norton, MA (US) with lyrics by noted freelance writer and author George Andrade of Fall River, MA (US). In 2009, Barry approached George with the idea of merging a personal story of falling from grace and redemption with that of a sociopolitical story of the avarice, lust, betrayal and self-destructive impulses that riddle and affect our public existences while also highlighting the hope that can release us from such travails … the album was named “Back From Being Gone” and The ANABASIS was born.

"Back From Being Gone" is a concept album anchored by a suite of "epic" sociopolitical songs called The ANABASIS Suite. The songs of The ANABASIS Suite are based upon 3 great ancient civilizations - the Romans the Norse and the Egyptians - and attempts to tell the story of and also comment upon how "simple men thrown upon the stage" of history, through their selfish actions, had affected the lives of the people living along the malls, along the fjords and along the Nile under their rule; in the process, Barry and George hope to hold a mirror up to our own lives (microcosm) and our relationships with our respective societies and governments (macrocosm).

The music written by Barry was influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Spock’s Beard and Black Sabbath and the historical lyrics were meticulously researched by George and thematically intertwined within the other songs of the album; once written, the team recruited a group of extraordinarily talented musicians from all over the world to take part in the project and fulfill their ambitious vision … were they crazy? Would it actually work – could they really pull it off?

The premise was to provide a basic framework for the songs and then to allow each musician free reign to play and interpret their part through their own unique performance style and sound – it was a true collaborative effort. Such artists as Josh Sager (Din Within - US), Christopher Harrison (Hi-On Maiden, Lee Abraham Band - UK), Brick Williams (Hourglass - US), Stefan Artwin (Relocator - DE) and Plini (Halcyon - AU) rose to the occasion and recorded powerful, eclectic and emotionally moving guitar solos that enhanced and amplified the themes thrillingly in their respective sections. Ryo Okumoto (Spock’s Beard, K2, Ryo Okumoto Band – JP/US) signed on and composed majestic, sweeping and beautiful keyboard orchestrations for The ANABASIS Suite and then quickly, based upon the strength and development of the album, decided to join the band as a regular member and played throughout providing some classic progressive rock flourishes and atmospheric work. In addition, Brian Hong provided two endearing solo violin pieces and Jeroen Hendrix performed some additional, blistering keyboard play highlighted in a classic duel with Ryo Okumoto in the song “Fly”. Finally, Gerald Mulligan (Lee Abraham Band - UK) was recorded and supported the project with tremendous, multifaceted and rock solid drumming.

The album is being mixed and co-produced by Lee Abraham (Lee Abraham Band – UK) – who also played bass on two songs - at his Dockside Studios and the drums were recorded and engineered by Karl Groom (Threshold –UK) at his Thin Ice Studios. Album art was designed by noted artist Martin Kornick (Neal Morse, Keith Emerson, Ajalon – US).
